Really enjoyed it. Factual without being sensationalist. Was worried it was all going to be screaming passengers and "hand picked" staff. Seemed very natural and looking forward to part two.

Great programme. Miles better than C4 rubbish. Twitter going mad on it.

Well, after that excellent opener, one can confidently expect the rest of the series to be of a similar high standard. It looked superb on the Hi Def channel. Hopefully available on BBC Blu Ray soon...............

An interesting and enjoyable episode. A bit shocked by the person being shoved off the platform onto the tracks and allegedly stabbed.
I though the staff came across pretty well though I did note there was a lack of drivers in this specific episode which being focused on the weekend, concentrated on the pressures of completing Engineering and Maintenance on time and dealing with a difficult and at times unreasonable public.

Episode 1. Fair, honest and unbiased? Too simplistic for the specialist? OK for the general viewer?
Personally I thought it a reasonable start to the series. Put the staff in a good light. What do others think?

I enjoyed it too, thought it was done in the right spirit and was well-balanced. It's shocking how there are so many morons around with no self control or respect - the lady cleaner at Liverpool Street had it right with her opinions. Big respect for people working on the front line - literally in some cases.

It also gave me the best laugh of the evening with the member of staff at Morden who went "wakey wakey rise and shine - it's the end of the Northern Line" to whoever was asleep

I too was shocked by the rudeness and ignorance of the public. There were so many people who showed such a lack of courtesy to the staff, and such a lack of thought as well; a moment's reflection would have made it obvious that a station is closed in rush hour only for the most dire emergency. I know that I would not last a day in that job and I truly admire the self restraint and patience of the men and women in the front line. This programme was well shot and well put together and I am looking forward to the next episode.

Great opening episode. Did anyone notice though when the 95 stock was being driven into Morden Depot, it was actually Northumberland Park as they were 09 Stocks in the depot. Excellent insight though. Look foward to next weeks episode!

I thought it was very good as well and I'm looking forwards to the rest of the series if it's done as well. Brilliant editing I thought.
Regarding the previous post maybe we should start a "The Tube Nitpicking" thread for the nitpickers among us. When talking about the pigeons at Morden they should a clip of a pigeon alighting from a train that was no 95TS!

As I said in one of the other threads, both my housemate and I enjoyed the program, and like londonstuff, thought the comments from the cleaner were spot on!
There were some amusing bits in it as well... particularly the bit at Tower Hill where the station staff recommended they get the train on the other platform as it was leaving first, and the husband got on but not the wife.

Agree londonstuff The lady cleaner from Russia said she was shocked by the shites weeing, throwing up and then expecting the station staff to clear up after them for the price of a ticket, I was too was shocked, how would they like some one to visit their home and behave this way, shame tfl could not ban them from the system. My admiration for the front line station staff such patience under so much pressure. jimjams

I too thought the program was well balanced. Not too technical for the general viewer and it did not concentrate on bizarre characters for the benefit of ratings.
Our driver who was interviewed at Harrow was not handpicked and not briefed beforehand. He was working shorts on the Harrow – Wembley bus service in the summer and they came up and chatted with him while he was on layover.
Hopefully this program will help to underline the importance of the work being undertaken, in a period when passengers tend to think we do this work just to cause disruption!

Think the comment that a lot of it was baby-sitting really resonated. Wonder whether such tasks could be better carried out by giving certain staff stronger policing powers, you know?
Its quite lighthearted though, nothing like 'Heart of Angel' for example, but it was good however, very glad its a series. Looking forward to the next one.

Kabs, I wasn't mocking or anything like that. I quite enjoy nitpicking like that. It's not a bad thing to do, at least in my book, and doesn't reduce the enjoyment of the show. For a comment aimed at what you said I would just note it as observant. No need for unhappy faces please, lol

But they missed out something... What happened to the woman who got stabbed, her boyfriend and did they catch the culprit? Was it a knife or, say, one of those sticky out bits where rails are welded? I mean, I know it was focussed on the staff, but that was the most dramatic bit of the programme, IMHO. Or is it so the viewer gets drawn into the frustration that the staff have of not knowing what happens to the people after they have played their part in an incident? I mean, there were staff who were with the woman for 30 minutes or more, that creates some kind of bond, no?

I mean, there were staff who were with the woman for 30 minutes or more, that creates some kind of bond, no? I think that's exactly it. You help people but often never find out what happens; be it as this incident, giving good ideas/directions, handing in a laptop or other lost property... For example, the family that got reunited, there was another member of staff at another station involved in helping them. The front line staff just see and take part in a little part of the story of other people's life. Another day at the office...

I did find the guy waking up in Morden wanting to get to Blackhorse Road quite amusing, reminded me of the line from Spaced:
"Where are you?" "I'm in Sheffield. Fell asleep on the tube." "The tube doesn't go to Sheffield?" "Yeah, I must've changed at Kings Cross."

Very well made, I think the BBC are onto a winner here. That incident at Leicester Square was very intense stuff. I was very impressed by the humble staff on it as well, particularly the way it was handled by the station supervisor and the simple but heroic actions of the cleaner who pulled the lady off the tracks. Alot better than the ITV series in my opinion, definately going to watch the rest of them.
