Hi guys,
I have been informed by my local SS at UB that the ticket will close next week permenatly and not to be reopened.
Aprently this is the only one on the district to close and is due to "Oyster" even though the system is a mess!!
They will be there watching the gate line but will no longer sell tickets.
Ive been thinking of forming a petition even though my free time is non exsistant!
I love my station and it's ashame they are doing that!
Cheers James

I don't think anybody will notice. Upminster Bridge is so quiet, you rarely get more than 1 person getting off a train.

It is a bit busier than that ! But it is probably the quietest on the line with Upney, Bromley-By-Bow, Stamford Brook and Ravenscourt Park, not far behind. A lot of journeys are against the flow though, passengers making there way to/from Upminster to use C2C into the city. You can fill the back car to standing in the peak at Upminster with passengers for just Up Bridge and Hornchurch. No idea how busy the ticket office is though. I was talking to a CSA at Hornchurch yesterday, he was spitting bullets, apparently full time CSA posts at Hornchurch were being replaced by part time ones and he was having to apply for a full time position at Elm Park

I always get the impression these passengers have just used the station as they have parked nearby to avoid the parking restrictions at Upminster.

Well i tell you something alot of people use this station to get to london. Otherwise it's an up hill walk or a 1.50 bus ticket.
I use it to go to london all the time and during the rush hour loads of people use it to go home!
I looked at the figures and a few years ago it had over 800,000 passengers a year

Actually Upminster Bridge is very busy at School Times as well. Several schools in the area as well as the London Borough of Havering 6th form college.
I think that area has one of the greatest concentration of TfL school bus routes too.

It certainly is not a busy station, and the booking office has often been closed when I've been going through, and the post office/newsagents almost opposite sells tickets, so it won't be too bad. Won't affect me though, I've got what I call an "Old Fogie's Pass" so I'm alright.

Upminster Bridge has closed. I pretty sure it was closed on Thursday 2nd, but I was in a bit of a rush and didn't look properly. Today there were posters up saying it is closed.

I see Upminster Br. has more than twice the passengers of Chesham, and that has its own branch line!

People in Chesham are probably more likely to complain though! Ah, well that's true - we probably would ;D That said, Chesham's passenger numbers are based on 2 trains an hour, so aren't bad really. I suspect many branch lines around the country would be delighted with that sort of usage.

Before a certain German political party took it over and turned it round the Swastika was a good luck symbol.

Before a certain German political party took it over and turned it round the Swastika was a good luck symbol. John I think the version on the floor is still the 'lucky' version. My father has told me that many historians still question why it was reversed by the Nazi's to the unlucky symbol.... Regards Christopher

What amazes me (no perhaps it doesn't) is that although it is now closed "they" have fitted a chip and pin payment machine to the booking office window.

Went via Upminster Bridge this morning, for the first time for a few weeks and heard they were playing classical music in the entrance hall and on the platforms. As a classical music fan I enjoyed it. Is this just at Upminster Bridge or are they doing it at other stations?

Was it an actual band playing, or just a recording? If it is the latter, then this will probably be to deter the teenagers etc from hanging around, creating nusance.
