I like the noise of the trains actually. The fan comes on then, the trains sort of puff and pant away with the camshaft equipment gently ticking. They used to make a different noise. You'd hear the motor enagage and then they'd make a sort of "ssssSSS SSSTTT!!" noise. Yeah, 321's do that, or used to; the whinnying of the traction package as the train gathers speed is really weird. So do Networkers [465's] As to the 313's prone-ness to flats... I would think that light bodyshell with huge bogies and lots of equipment under the driving cars makes this occur. They also ride quite badly, but that might be coupled with the track; the frequent stops for these units might also explain qhy they get flats quicker than other units...

Just seen one of the new 378's operating on the London Overground line going over a bridge in the Camden Road area as i was on my way home from work. As it was after traffic hours I Presume it was on some sort of test run.

If anyone wants to see 378001 then Monday night, 02-03-09, it leaves Willesden Tmd between 20.00 and 21.00... for dc testing/driver training
