The moquette is gastly... I'm just glad that I'll be sitting on it and not staring at it ;-)

Well, I rarely get a chance to sit on a seat whilst using LO, but as long as they are comfy it don't really matter what they look like, as I would probably have too many people in front of me to see them anyhow.

I love the look of the 378s, just wonder how long will that last once they're in London?

Indeed - In this photo (courtesy of London Reconnections) the only thing that stops this looking like a 1970s photograph is the clothes worn by the woman on the left.

The colours are fine but the pattern is wrong! Bigger bolder areas of colour would look better-bit like the A stock seating-although maybe not triangles.

Its a completely inaccurate photo anyway. To truly capture how it would look in service on the NLL: - The woman on the left needs a ridiculously oversized buggy and lots of Camden Market shopping bags - The woman on the right needs a mobile phone blasting out Mariah Carey on speaker - There need to be about 100 more people in the carriage - One of those people needs to be blocking the aisle with a racing bike

I like it too! A nice nod to the 1978 design by Misha Black. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Too true ;D But you forgot: - Four Polish builders sleeping at the carriage-end - Someone wearing a baseball cap with their feet on the seat

Whilst the design is happily going to frustrate the "feet on seats" brigade, I can't see this being popular on those travelling from, say, Croydon up to Canada Water or Whitechapel and where standing for all, or almost all, of the way is going to become the norm.
(Incidentally notice how some idiots will *still* stretch out to put their feet on the opposite longitudinal opposite seat in modern Tube-sized cars even though it means adopting an extremely uncomfortable back posture.)

Just to let you know the first 378 mover from Derby to Shoeburyness of all places on 24th, hauled by a GBRF 66, it should have moved on 22nd but was cancelled due to "paperwork" issues then it should have run on 23rd but didnt due to a track possesion near Litchurch Lane. My mate got a photo of it at Kensington Olympia.
Cheers

Somehow, the plastic and some interior shaping is reminiscent of 1992ts

Rather garish if you ask me. I suppose after a month or so in service, the seats/interior decor will be that dirty no one will think any the wiser.

(And bear in mind the D Stock/1983 Stock/Titan/Metrobus moquette in orange/brown/black was originally designed for the abortive LT "Speedbus" project. )

The Design Research Unit would have been involved and According to the LTM, Black designed a moquette in 1978. In any case, it was one of the better things that he did for London Transport design.
