We know the W&C stock are being repainted in LU livery, but is anything happening with the inside? I'd personally like to see a Teal interior to match the line colour rather than the current red one, does anyone know exactly what work is being done to the trains during the shutdown?

They will be getting the lul livery, after any corrosion has been removed. They will also be getting new flooring, new seat covers, new grab rails as well as cctv. Yes they will be getting a new interior based on the colour teal. The work is virtually cosmetic, as they had a recent overhaul which was concentrated below solebar level.

I mean to start a thread on Monday, but forgot ;D It's now a month since the W&C "essential upgrade work" started - anyone know if everything is progressing as planned?

LU move customers from A to B, they used to do it via 'C'.

I sit accross the way from the W&C boys. They have samples of the new moquette, flooring and grab rails, all in W&C colours you'll be pleased to know! I'll ask them if they are on schedule and let you know.

I know I keep saying it, but apologies for the delayed response - I have been away for a week or so.
Posters are advised to take the first available thread and change where necessary! ;D
I have spoken to my W&C colleagues and they tell me that all the carriages are now in Doncaster. The first cars to be refreshed are now coming out of the paint shop and are having external decals applied. So it seems like things are on schedule.
Hope this was useful, if I can get some pic's which they are happy to release I will pop them here for you to take a look.

My colleague went up to Doncaster on Tuesday and showed me some photos today. The first trains are now in full LU livery with all the decals and roundels in place. The interiors have been fitted with the new moquette and grab poles. The door grab poles are a slightly lighter shade than the interior ones in order to create a contrast but this is hardly noticeable. They really do look very nice. The front end fixed destinations have been put in place but they are a shade of red and blend too much with the cab front, LU have requested that the are replaced with yellow lettering instead. If I can persuade them to release some photo's I will post them here.

From the photo's, it seems the units waiting to be refreshed are outside and the completed units are inside. That may just be because the refreshed units have only just been finished and have not been moved to an outside stabling point yet.

It will be good to see them when they come back, likewise some "taster" photos.....

Anyone catch Wednesday night's ITV London News at 6? They showed a 'refurbed' train, looked very nice on the inside with the new colour scheme!

From the interior photos, it looks like the arm rests are a thing of the past.
In the old and new picture, two of the trains have a large W in the window - does anyone know why?

hang on - they look just like central line 92TS... they could've made a bit of an effort to get a different look...

Perhaps the W is to identify which end of the train is the Waterloo end?

Don't LU normally use A and D for that purpose though wouldn't it be a laugh if metronet put one DM car back in the wrong way round

From the interior photos, it looks like the arm rests are a thing of the past. In the old and new picture, two of the trains have a large W in the window - does anyone know why? The arm rests are going back on, I think some shots show the interior before they have been put back on. The 'W' does indeed denote which end should face Waterloo. You can also see the destination in Red which LU have asked to be replaced with a yellow version. It really annoys me that I ask for some photo's from my own department and they 'um and arr' about it, whilst Metronet post them on the Internet. Why all the secrecy? I don't know!

1. They can surely afford a better camera than that!? 2. I like it, I think they look very London Undergroundy, and even though the old ones were something special, the new ones at least look like part of of the tube now
