An internal advisory for the last day of operations on the East London Line has come to my attention which I share with you below. It seems a special Timetable will operate in the afternoon with one extra train in service. I have no idea what will form the extra train, but it is noted, "railway enthusiasts are expected to prefer to ride this train" ! Sounds good to me ;D ;D I'm posting it here so those of you going for a ride on the last day, don't go home too early ! (assuming all goes to plan) The notice runs to a few pages, but the relevant bits are - ....Although there is not an official public event scheduled to mark the closing of the line it is anticipated that some railway enthusiasts (less than 500) will turn out on the day to commemorate the event by riding the East London Line before it closes.
To commemorate the closing of the line, an additional, special train will run from 15:00 through to close of traffic (COT). It is anticipated that enthusiasts will prefer to ride this train.
.... Train Service
From Start of Traffic until 15:00 a normal Saturday service will operate. From 15:00 through to the Close of Traffic, a special service will operate with one extra train running. This will be a special train to commemorate the closing of the line and is expected to be most popular with the railway enthusiasts. This extra train does not increase the normal 10 trains per hour.
A special timetable notice will be issued to operational staff, but I haven't seen that for greater details. Hope this plan comes off and that this info is of use to those of you planning a ride on the 22nd !!!! (and no getting in the way of my taking pictures )

could it be the 1938 unit? or could it be a 3-car unit of unrefurbished D stock commemorating that time in the lines history.

Shame there's not an F stock train still around-that would be perfect! It will probably be an A60 train (which is always good!) running a special service! Can't wait for it!!! Is the last day of the ELL Sat 22nd or Sun 23rd?

It could be ...though if it is I can't see why they would expect enthusiasts to prefer to ride that train ..... unless they do it up in some way ? I suppose they could run something thats not been there before ! A double ended refurb D, 4 cars of C stock, a double ended 1967 ? No doubt all will become clear ... Last night, under cover of darkness, I passed an A stock transfer to Neasden at Aldgate East, totally covered in graffitti ..most certainly hope we don't see anything like that on the last day !

I doubt it will be a C stock, they don't have enough to spare on most days and we want to get there and back!!

Was there not a 4 car 1962 stock being done up somewhere - don't Cravens Heritage Trains have one?

C stock would be interesting; have they ever even visited the line out of service? Or what about Sarah in push pull mode with the 4cep unit?

This train had been the last to serve New Cross Gate - the ELL's regular graffiti point - the previous night. The three perpetrators knew how to disable the train and when the driver went to investigate why he could get no pilot light, he was threatened with 'a doing' by the lookout on the platform whilst the two 'artists' carried on with their work on the track side of the train. Charming.

I am disapointed to report a revised version of the internal staff advisory notice has been issued. It no longer refers to the extra train as being of interest to enthusiasts or that enthusiasts will prefer to ride this train Whilst it doesn't specifically refer to any change from the previous notice it now infers the extra train will be formed of normal A stock. If that's the case, why bother having an extra train at all?

So does anyone know if there's anything special at all happening?
And either way, what time will the last passenger train be?
