I won't repeat what was alleged to have been the cause of the incident. It would not be circumspect to do so on this *bows low in deference* premium-rated forum! I am not sure that it has been referred to here so

I've noticed these yellow vertical poles springing up trackside around the Stanmore branch. Anything to do with ATO?

TC12/2007 p3. Is the posting of scans here permitted? Not directly from the traffic circular - this thread refers. You can however type out a general overview of the text in your own words.

Let's not forget the testing of some of the ATO/Transmission Based Train Control kit between Canons Park and Kingsbury this Saturday and Sunday night.
I can't forget it - I'm the one setting the signals for said tests to be carried out. I shall have so little time to read through the new rule books ;D

Re: Reply#124
On closer inspection the yellow "poles" happen to be 3x3 timbers painted bright yellow and tied to the cable run. They appear to be markers of some sort.

I would imagine that they are almost definately related to the TBTC project. There isn't anything else happening in that part of the world that we know of - though of course we are normally the last to know.
Having said that, we have been issued with information on how the system will work. It's labelled "Service Controllers" information, but appears to be mostly a "Train Operators Information" with a different label, but it's more than we'd usually get so...
The section between Canons Park and Kingsbury goes "live" from around September.
Sure I've said this elsewhere - maybe even in this thread but it has grown too long for me to have time to search back. Aplogies if I'm repeating what has already been said.

;D The project as a whole is running late, but this bit is relatively straight forward and is said to be more or less on time (there are no controlled signals/points etc within the area they are taking.
Besides I did say "around" September so we'll see.

September 2061, of course! ;D When the section between Canons Park and Kingsbury goes live, will the traditional signalling remain in place or will it be removed? EDIT: Also, when will the physical earthworks at Stanmore be completed?

So how many trains are done now, and do they all need to be done before ATO can start?

When the section between Canons Park and Kingsbury goes live, will the traditional signalling remain in place or will it be removed? EDIT: Also, when will the physical earthworks at Stanmore be completed? For quite some period of time (though don't ask me how long) the two systems will run side by side. From the point of view of our equipment, we won't (shouldn't ) notice any change in operation. At some point in the future, when the section has proved itself, the traditional signalling will be removed - this will no doubt be after the line has transferred to Neasden signal box. Stanmore's platform work has been reduced to a go slow as there is now no need to rush to complete it, as the area will be re-signalled and transferred to Neasden in one hit in around 18 months- 2years.

There are articles on Alcatel's website about how Seltrac can interface with conventional signalling for non-equipped trains. www1.alcatel-lucent.com/tas/then go to TASbits (on the left side menu) Download issues 7,8, and 9 which should be of interest. (Note the website hasn't been updated lately as Thales took over Alcatel's signalling division)
