For the past few weeks apart from the new brick building at Stanmore there has been construction work at Canons Park, Queensbury and Kingsbury for what looks like signal/electrical rooms.

Good to hear that things are going to plan. Whenj I left the country in October, inductive loops had been layed on parts of the line. Has the whole line been fitted with inductive loops, and associated equipment such as axle counters yet?

Test runs for the 3rd and 4th were cancelled too, however,I'm reliably informed the one booked for tonight will run, also next Sunday, the shutdown between Wembley and Stanmore will involve two test trains running from COT Saturday till end of engineering hours Sunday.044-043 will be the test train tonight, next week will be 044-043 and probably 048-079 which is waiting testing on the DCA next week.

This may already be common knowledge, but as I haven't been here a while I thought I would add that:
October/November 2007: Canons Park-Kingsbury will transfer to ATO - no impact on controlled signalling as this is an auto-signalled area.
Summer 2008: Control south of Dollis Hill transferred to Neasden Signalling Centre with mostly ATO running
December 2009: Control of entire line under Neasden SCC with most if not full ATO.

South of Dollis Hill - interesting. I would have expected "south of Finchley Road" but not "south of Dollis Hill".

......December 2009: Control of entire line under Neasden SCC with most if not full ATO. That lines up quite well for things to start moving from Baker Street to Hammermsith Or maybe a year or two after!

So it's 'nailed down' for sure that Hammersmith will be the site of the SSL IECC? I thought there was still a bit of back-and-forth to go with regards to its location.
Hammersmith seems like an awfully odd place though; it's a bit out of the way. Wouldn't South Kensington, Mark Lane or Clerkenwell be a better location?

South of Dollis Hill - interesting. I would have expected "south of Finchley Road" but not "south of Dollis Hill". It's actually the Willesden Green site and south thereof. It may be that Finchley Road and Baker Street/Charing Cross move just before. That lines up quite well for things to start moving from Baker Street to Hammermsith Or maybe a year or two after! Depends how you look at it. I mean, I work at Baker Street and if things go the way they have been - especially since the restructuring - then pretty soon a few of us will be out of work. It's a much better location than those previously banded about - Acton and Hillingdon being just two. Kings Cross and anywhere north of their (following the line of the East Coast mainline) would also be ideal locations ;D

Everything except the Bakerloo. Because we're so old school and resistant to change (unlike the Met, it would seem...) ;D

Errr it could be that, like me, the planners of schemes and things forgot that the siding that is the Bakerloo even existed. I quite often find myself thinking "I wonder what's in that room across the corridor." ;D ;D
