well the Jubbly has 4 new trains which, at the moment have no use, as there isn't extra capacity for them, so they must have a few to spare, but when ATO goes live how many more will the PVR (bus word - sorry) be? See reply no.15

with an upgrade of 6tph and 4 new trains presumably there will be tighter limit on the number of spares and maintance.

Even a 58 train service would still leave 5 spare trains.

It should be remembered that with the significantly increased runs times under ATO, the increase in train number requirements will not be proportional to the increase in tph.

is ATO realistically going to be in place this time next year or is it going to be another Connect 2000?

There is a test train out Sunday night(eng hrs)running between Stratford and London Bridge. It's a Tubelines train but don't know if it's to do with the resignalling project.

is ATO realistically going to be in place this time next year or is it going to be another Connect 2000? Alcatel have a very good track record of installing CBTC signalling. So I wouldn't be surprised if things progress well. There are however many firsts for them in this project, particularly the 4th rail close to the inductive loop, and resignalling a traditionally signalled line. The Line will not be fully ATO until 2009, with the ATO being introduced in stages.

I wonder if Waterloo - Stratford has infrastructure in place to allow it to be strung up and ATO'd rapidly. If they could get the newer portion working at a high frequency (i.e. capacity >= 24tph) the line's reliability would improve a lot.

They're not really using the same ATO kit as used on the DLR are they? I've moved to Devon's Road recently and I can't stand it, simply for the braking as trains pull in to stations, depending on the age of the train you can either hear "THUNK.. whirrrr" as the trains slow down, and the braking doesn't seem to be as comfortable as the mighty Central Line etc., it's a lot of "Brakes ON brakes OFF brakes ON" to stop in a jerking motion.

I have recently noticed that inductive loops for the ATO have been installed at Waterloo and London Bridge stations. They are bright orange, and fixed to the insides of the running rails.

why does it have to go to Neasden with battery locos, can't it finish service there or do an ECS?

This is only a 3 Car 1996 Stock, it can not operate on the Jubilee Line, except in depot.
The 1996 stock can only move under power on the Jubilee Line.
On Wednesday night the 3 Car will move with the 4 Loco's from Neasden depot to Highgate depot.
It takes to long to make the move in 1 night.

so they are at Highgate Depot then? I will have a look tomorrow, they seem to be doing alot of work there as there are alot of JNP vans coming in and out and building work. I don't think I saw a 96, the only thing is the m-door so it becomes quite difficult!

ok then, so they might not be moved for some days. so there are no 96s in Highgate.
will it just be left there most of the time, because it would be great to get a photo as they go through highgate woods on the test track.
how far towards the old high level station do the tracks go?
