C Stock used to run to Neasden/Wembley Park for stabling. This changed when the 'operational units' came into operation and the C stock was dedicated to Hammersmith and Met. Crews no longer drove the circle. They also used the C stock for Football specials, so having Wembley Park on there is useful. Image from Solidbond's Site. Wembley Park fast platform. Thanks for that Rob, although, that picture shows an unrefurb C stock, were there any plans for them to go there after refurb? cos I would have thaught they would take it out in refurb, but then on the Waterloo & City line you can still announce the next station is Ongar, so it could be LU's policy to not change anything that isn't doing any harm?

Would the blinds have been replaced during the refurb? If not, why spend money buying fresh when it's not really needed.
Also, what if you'd just bought a set of expensive blinds without Wembley and Neasden, and then the next timetable revision calls for C stocks to work to Neasden again...

Exactly, if it ain't broken don't fix it!
Plus there are still opportunities for C stock to go up the Met line if the need arises.
The W&C had exactly the same equipment as the Central Line trains, so the W&C trains could announce Ongar but the Central Line trains could also announce Waterloo.
Eventually they decided that decided sticky labels would work, (this was at a time when the 92ts destination equipment wasn't reliable) which is a better solution as this could give spares to the central.

Yeah, I knew about the Central, announcement 33 is "Thank you, for traveling on the Waterloo & City line" IIRC.

Perhaps some on here will know whether or not this coincided with the closure of Baker St depot and more? jubilee trains stabling at Neasden? How many Cs went up to Neasden? Also did the Cs ever go/booked to go to reverse at Harrow? or did they only reverse via Neasden??
3 now stable at Edgware Road in consq.

I imagine the C stocks would have done what A stocks do today. Arrive in plat 1 at Wembley and reverse into Neasden depot from there?
In daysgone by, some Circle line trains started at Uxbridge (in the days of the 13/21 saloon stock).

You mean C stock is shorter JtD? 6 Cars of C Stock is shorter than 8 cars of A Stock..... that's what I meant. Plus A stocks have a wider loading gauge.

They used to use the then #-over south of Finchley Road to access the Bakerloo lines and then ran to Neasden or Wembley Park for stabling, and also providing a later service for Bakerloo station passengers. In the opposite direction they provided an earlier service to Finchley Road, and used the 'loop' just north of FR from the then Bakerloo to the Met.

Darn! Can only find in UNDERGROUND 5 C Stock in Barking Sidings with R Stock and an A Stock with WEMBLEY PARK, used to train before the stock transferred to the ELL in June 1977, and Sundays 15th & 22nd October 1978 O.R. C Stocks ran to alternately Wimbledon and Olympia, empty in the latter case ,except that on the 22nd two C Stocks carried passengers from Olympia with CIRCLE LINE destinations after connecting with an overnight Stranraer train and another from Holyheaf, diverted from Euston because of Motor Show traffic.
Also, UD 7, a C69 Stock gauging train with SPECIAL at Turnham Green, 23rd October 1977 presumably headed for Richmond.

Is there something in the MCL Line Supplement about it Harsig? Actually it was in the reference manual (Ta001 - Permitted Running Routes for Passenger Rolling Stock). Where the information is to be found now we've got the new rule book, I don't know. What the reference manual said for the Amersham - Harrow On the Hill section was: and the reason given was

HOW? The C stock is shorter and narrower than the A stock. The C69/77 DM are 2ft 7'' longer than the trailers but the bogie centres are the same as the A stock DM/T!

Thanks Har Sig! That is probably just another of the thousand things left out of this new "rule" [sic] Book... It "may" be due to the cars being slightly lower? This would be the case as I think they have tube sized wheels! ?? Or perhaps more of a swing!!!!

No they have the same diameter wheels (905mm) as the A stock. But they may be lower! Also their solebar is much lower (bit like the D stock) so that could be a factor as you say!
Platform 5 may need to be altered in the very near future then.

I'll try and answer some of the questions raised here The C stocks continued to run to Neasden on nights until well after Baker St Met depot closed, which was in 1993. They still ran to Neasden when I left Edgware Road depot in Oct 1995, but I'm not sure exactly when they stopped running. I do believe it was in connection with the introduction of the 96 stock, to create additional stabling room in the depot. There were five trains booked to run to Neasden each night, with some running up the Jubilee and into depot from Neasden, some running fast up the Met to Wembley then into depot, and I believe there were even some which ran to Wembley up the Jubilee. In the morning, as already mentioned, some came down the Jubilee and some came down the Met. Regarding the sole bar on C stock, it is deeper than the A stock, in that it has to provide additional strength due to the extra doorways, and thus the bottom is indeed lower than the A stock. The problem was first discovered many years ago when there severe flooding in Central London, and a C stock was diverted to Harrow. On its way out of the siding the driver called the controller to say that the train had hit the platform. When the controller told the driver to go slower, the driver explained that he was only doing about 1mph as it was The problem came about, I believe, due to the use of metric nosing stones on the platforms, the same problem as at the East End of the District.

With the opening of WOOD LANE (H&C) station towards the end of this year an the re-naming of SHEPHERD'S BUSH (adding 'MARKET') are we to see new C Stock blinds relect this change as in:
HAMMERSMITH via Shepherds Bush
shown now?

I doubt they could fit "via Shepherds Bush Market" in letters big enough to be readable. Maybe it will be changed to "via Wood Lane"?

C stock used to have Met main line destinations on their blinds,wasn't unknown for a H&C or Circle to get diverted to Amersham if the Met was screwed.

I expect that H&C servcies will continue to show 'HAMMERSMITH via Shepherd's Bush'. After all A stock trains only show 'HARROW' on their fronts and this hasn't been a problem for years!
What did previous stocks show on the H&C? Here's what I am aware of: 1906 stock [HAMMERSMITH] M stock [HAMMERSMITH via Kings X] and? (C)O stock [HAMMERSMITH via?....]
