Yes (so long as 25 is the one next to the Inner Rail line!!!). It cannot be used to stable a train, as there is no walkway to it. Its like the sidings at Wembley Pk (unless they are ready now!), they can be used, but only if the Operator stays on the train

The 1985 edition of the walkways guide shews the walking route applying to 23, 24 and 25rds. I could probably sift through the mountain of WTTs, but this gem might take a long while to find!

I don't know when it was done but it was certainly in the last 10 years. It is because the tripcock cannot be tested without the fitter being at risk from a train passing on the down road.

I left the H&C in 2000 and it was done just as I left on request from the Health & Safety reps as there is also no safe way to enter or leave the train. Only 2 trains stable in Farringdon now.

"Informed sources" tell me that the T/T of 24.09.2000 took one train away from Farringdon. The new stabling arrangements were Barking +4, Hs Dt -2, Ed Rd -1, Farringdon -1 However, 25 road was used after 7/7 as they had to outstable C stock anywhere they could and all three sidings were used.

It can also be used if another train is used as protection I undertand, so only good for proper emergencies.

Somebody discussed the Wembley Park sidings - I presume you are talking about the 5 roads that were built on the site of the north sheds? I saw 2 A stocks laying over on them the other day. Does this mean they have been comissioned? Is it a case of bye Farringdon and hello Wembley?

The sidings have been available for atleast 18 months and have been generally used for event day services to provide an enhanced reyurn service. A rusty rail path for train 467 at 1845 sees a booked train in the sidings on Mon - Fri. The two seen the other day wer off the Uxbridge service after a signal failure at Moorgate outer rail saw the Mets reversing at Moorgate and a requirement to reduce the trains in service.

I've got a note that Wembley Park sheds were announced as being commissioned on 3/4/2006.

Indeed - rather short-sighted bit of recommissioning there!

Should be; 7cars of 96ts is shorter than 8 cars of A60

Are they too short for S stock? There looks like there is a bit of spare room for the A60s?

Problem is, they are too short for an 8-car S Stock! Are they long enough for the Jubilee line trains? Yes. The story goes that they were built by Tubelines and, since they won't have anything to do with S Stock, it never occurred to them to design them long enough for them. BUT, they are useless for 96TS because they can't get there unless you go into Neasden Depot and back shunt through Platform 6 at Wembley Park. Their salvation might be if they were used to stable some of the new S Stock Circles and Hammersmiths which now can't stable at Farringdon, Edgware Rd, Parsons Green, Triangle and Hammersmith - assuming of course you can test tripcocks in there.

I'll gladly run up to Wembley to stable. Would make a nice change. I'd be able to wave at all those smiling, happy Met main drivers while I was there too!

i was talking to a supervisor a few weeks ago when i was on night and he told me that he was talikng to an engineer who was in charge of the removal of farringdon sidings.the plan is to take over the old soon to be thameslink line to moorgate as lul tracks and to stable 2 posible 3 including platform 4 at moorgate when the new s stock comes in,so at least there will be some room for s stocks.

Apologies for the bump, but to answer the OP, TC 2/2002 is the earliest that notes 25 rd as being out of use. It states that following a Workplace Risk Assessment, the walkway has been deemed as having unacceptable trip hazards. No trains to stable in 25 rd except in extreme emergencies, and the operator must remain with the train and will not alight.
