I understand the weekend service is now back to normal yet the rush hour service is not. Why is this? Surely the priority should be the weekday service (even if its only a few days a week!). 48 trains required M-F 35 required weekends totals currently available in previous posts So my point is this: S Surely run the usual off-peak/weekend service in the peak (with the 35/36 trains you have available) at least which would surely be far better than what is being run at the moment during the peak? OR at least surely there is sufficient stock to send more than 4tph to Aldgate during the rush hour..........

The luxury of a 15 minute service wished the cheshunt branch of London Overground would provide that instead of a half hourly service
If used weekend timetable there wouldn't be enough trains on other busy parts of the line same as the extra trains they getting back other parts would benifet more

There was the option of running some additional trains from Aldgate or Baker Street to Harrow. Obviously this is dependent on available stock (remember usual maintenance requirements are in addition to this issue with the wheel sets) and having available train operators (which has been discussed at great length so let’s not do it again!). I was taking the Met from Baker Street to North Harrow at about 6.30 on Monday and it was quite busy but not ridiculously so.

I have it on good authority from test crews that S8s have been and are going to Upminster for both reasons. Trains are indeed being sent to Upminster wheel lathe to help get the fleet back up to speed.

Further to my post of 21st April, I’ve observed just the six additional S8s back in passenger service over the period 25th April-04th May, namely 27, 63, 79, 103, 107 and 111. That makes 42 so called ‘good’ trains which aligns with 'Rincew1nd'’s post also of the 21st April advising of the 42 hoped for ‘good’ units for the end of the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

Good morrow - just a quick one; do we have a full fleet back in service now, or are there still some units awaiting repair? I ask as there appear to be some cancellations this morning. I’m curious as to how much of that is down to the earlier faulty train at Rickmansworth and unavailable trains (something one can only guesstimate, I imagine).

Still three planned cancellations in both peak-periods.

Yes 085/086 that you advised was at Upminster a few days ago is now back in service on the Met. 025/026, 053/054 and 101/102 also back in service which make 46 so called 'good' trains as of Wednesday 11th May according to my observations.

I remember a special service operated on the Met in summer of 2021. Was it because of this or was it a different reason.

Bit of an update for the record. Based on observation, since my last post of 17th May 2022, S8s 037/038, 047/048, 055/056, 077/078, 091/092 and 113/114 are all back in passenger service together with 023/024 ex overhaul. That just leaves 049/050, 057/058, 067/068, 087/088 and 109/110 to check for return to service following any wheelset repairs that might have been necessary.
