I have seen speculation 'somewhere else' that Bank Northern line might reopen sooner than expected. Even 'this month' (February 2022).
Maybe they are only referring to trains travelling in one direction, I do not know.
Either way, I am surprised!

The replacement bus service is contracted to run until 13th May. As far as I am aware, there has been no request for an early termination of that contract.

Has there been any news on how the works are going?
Given the mess it's made of my commute to and from work I can't wait until the Northern Line is whole again, rather than holed.

The intricate and safety-critical work needed to connect the new southbound tunnels to the existing railway is continuing at pace since the temporary closure of the Northern line between Kennington and Moorgate began on 15 January. We are now halfway through the 17-week Northern line closure and good progress has been made on the new tunnel connection to the existing network, and the new concourse, escalator and moving walkway.
There have been some delays to the cladding panels, owing to a number of panels needing to be remanufactured and installed. We are currently developing a plan to ensure all the necessary panels are in place by the end of the blockade to enable the opening of the new concourse and platform area. This week marks the halfway point in the Bank closure track installation in new southbound tunnel and platform almost complete nosing stones and tactile strip already done on new southbound platform platform signage on southbound platform (new tunnel approach and departure from southbound platform are distinctly oval shape rather than round!)

Closure passes halfway mark press release here "Use alternative routes where possible - the Victoria and Bakerloo lines have plenty of space". The Victoria Line? I never thought to see that promoted as plenty of space! Additional Northern line closures are needed to complete this work, including: Friday 15 April and Saturday 16 April between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station, Euston and Stockwell (via Bank) Saturday 23 April between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station, Euston and Stockwell (via Bank) Saturday 14 May and Sunday 15 May between Charing Cross and Battersea Power Station, Euston and Stockwell (via Bank) So that gives the final weekend of the closure, and I presume the April dates are to connect signalling etc for the new route, and to run test trains.
"TfL's data indicates a shift to walking and cycling as a result of the closure, with a 31 per cent increase in Santander Cycle hires at key impacted cycle stations, and walking trips rising 28 per cent faster around the Bank area compared to the rest of the network. Demand for buses has also risen 20 per cent faster, on average, on impacted routes compared to the rest of the network."

How has the rest of LU done coping with this key City link closed? How has the Charing Cross branch managed with the full service on that route? I don't suppose that will happen again until the line is finally split with the next upgrade - in 20 years?

Saw a picture on LinkedIn yesterday of the first train in the new platform.
Definite progress.

Was the closure of the DLR in to Bank yesterday planned, and is it in place all weekend? It wasn't mentioned in the usual TfL weekend travel email, nor on the DLR station posters about closures (last weekend's was).

I was present in the Northern line control centre on Friday observing the test running. Whilst it didn't go completely to plan, it's not in a bad place at all.

Have TfL confirmed an opening date? I know it says Mid-May but do we have anything more specific?

Lots of news articles at the time of the closure starting said 17 weeks, which brings us to the weekend of Saturday 14 May (i.e. next weekend). That weekend there is a much larger closure of the Northern line (Stockwell to Euston via Bank and Charing Cross to Battersea Power Station) mirroring the first weekend of the closure suggesting that's when they will be plugging the closed bit back into the signalling system and doing all the associated testing. However, the last day TfL's status update has the Bank branch closed is, oddly, Thursday 20 May.

The signalling side of the project has already been commissioned; the remaining work is now operational integration testing.

From what I’ve seen and read internally, the Northern line will be open throughout (provided testing on the 15th goes ok) from start of traffic on Monday 16th May.

After the closure will the new service pattern immediately move to 12tph to Battersea or will that be brought in later?
