The lift from the arrivals W&C platform was commissioned for service 12/7/2010. It has a 14.72ft rise. Or, more conventionally, 14 feet, 8 and 2/3 inches, or 4.49 metres. Although expressing the rise of a lift to two decimal places in feet (about 3 mm) seems to be rather over-precise. (The rise will probably vary more than that due to thermal expansion and contraction of the cables

Is the Woodford shuttle the only four-car service?
Also, am I right in thinking Epping-Ongar never operated the 1992 Stock?

Either someone has turned up somewhere with a tape-measure.... or.... @reganorak is referring to a specification document methinks I have used the lift a few times before the line closed. The height rise date came from an L&E engineer friend/colleague. From memory the top of the shaft is behind doors to the left of the stairs from the arrivals platform at the ticket office end. Obviously you wouldn't be using the lift from to get to the platform this point. There are lifts signed to get you to main line concourse via the old Eurostar area.

Is the Woodford shuttle the only four-car service? Also, am I right in thinking Epping-Ongar never operated the 1992 Stock? No 92TS Passenger trips to Ongar as far as I know. Used twice for low traction voltage development tests with 92TS. I'm fairly sure those are the only two trips there ever with 92TS.

There were four trips to Ongar, all non-passenger:
13/7/93 - 033+030+032+035 28/7/93 - 005+007 5/10/93 - 017+014+016+019 2/11/93 - 107+104+106+109

Today's London-Glasgow non-stop attempt reminds me that on one of those trips from Ongar we managed to run non-stop from Epping to the West Ruislip home signal. No speed record, just drifting along behind passenger trains, but possibly the longest non-stop distance run on LUL?

WOW learn something new every day _ I never knew 92TS had been on the Ongar line at all, for any reason.

I did not realise there were any through trains to Ongar, always thought it was a branch service. I have only once saw a 62 stock show Ongar at Snaresbrook, however I do not think it went there and may be set wrong.

Any updates on the set and any new videos/ pictures? I have only seen an older picture of the first unit just after it was completed, which I don’t have but I haven’t seen any up to date pictures and haven’t seen any videos of it in action.

I think that in the days when the service only operated at rush hours there were regular start / end of peak hour service journeys that ran as far as Loughton.

Ongar trains started at Woodford for a period of time (1980s), usually at around 3.30pm if I remember correctly. I used them occasionally when I was going up there to visit friends

Did the Ongar unit stable overnight at Woodford, or somewhere on the branch itself. If the former, did it run empty, or in service, between Woodford and Epping

When is the Acton Works development expected to open? With completion of the new workshop will some existing parts of Acton Works become redundant ?

When they ran two trains one would stable at Loughton and the other at Hainault. The unit stabled at Loughton would stable at Hainault the following night & vice versa.

To be honest with you I haven’t heard anything yet. Let’s see what the next Central line bulletin has to say!

The first two roads in the new AC14 workshop in Acton Works are hoped to be handed over at the end of this month and the first production CLIP train for full refurbishment accepted soon afterwards.
