Apologies for the thread bump but any updates on the refurb of these? You seem to time these bumps just as something happens! This morning AC fitted unit 92446-93446 with 3 DC units ran empty from Debden to Epping in ATO.

This morning AC fitted unit 92446-93446 with 3 DC units ran empty from Debden to Epping in ATO. Does this mean the AC fitted units are compatible to inter-work with DC units? Or was the equipment cut out on one type (a swinger in the jargon?) whilst the other type did the work? I imagined during the project there would be a fleet of AC units and a fleet of DC units, but if they are compatible to run together, then there will remain only one fleet.

Hopefully they will do daily testing if so could I get the workings in my pm so I can video it?
Also how is the Acton workshop going?

When the project gets underway, how will each train get to Acton? From Ruislip depot via the Met and Picc? Or all via road, since 1992TS is not passed for any route off the Central line currently.

There is a well rehearsed process for hauling an unpowered 1992 tube stock from Ruislip to Acton. However, the track circuits that necessitate this arrangement will have to be replaced for the new Piccadilly trains, so if this is done, the 1992 tube stock might well be driven both ways, just needing tripcocks fitted for the journey.

Has anyone got any photos or footage of the refurbished trains? And do you know when the first refurbished train will enter service?

My understanding is that each Central line train is 8 cars long and one unit is 2 cars long (so that means 4 units for one train) so that means that in terms of cars, it was 2 AC cars that did a test run with 6 DC cars

That's correct. Some units have a cab at one end, other have no cab at all.

And have these units been refurbished on the interior with the CCTV and PIS installed? No, these cars only have the AC motor modification. As said in this thread other units have various trial fittings that will eventually make it to the production refurbishment trains which will be done at Acton Works when the workshop is fully completed and the trials successfully completed

The trial units for refurbished interior are different to those for new motors, but fleet conversion will do the whole job on a unit at a time.

The Waterloo and city line is the only line I’ve never used so I may not ride on it but it will be great to see some photos and videos of them. Sad that with the introduction of the PIS, Emma Clarke will now be completely replaced by Sarah Parnell. I like Sarah’s voice on the subsurface lines and the Victoria but she sounds awful on the Central line trying to imitate Emma, especially at Bank 😖😖😖😖(I don’t get why they changed that because the script is still the same)

The problem with the Waterloo and City is there's a ramp at Waterloo "Departures" platform but only stairs at "Arrivals". Bank has step free access from the new Walbrook entrance.

I believe the Waterloo & City arrivals platform at Waterloo has a lift - a newish one if I remember correctly: www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/waterloo_lift

Odd, when I've worked the W&C I've never noticed a lift on the arrivals platform. I will have a look the next time I'm down there although with only 10 duties required for peak time working that might not be until September

The lift from the arrivals W&C platform was commissioned for service 12/7/2010. It has a 14.72ft rise.

Maybe before being unleashed on the main part of the Central line the test train should first work on the Woodford - Hainault service?

The height rise date came from an L&E engineer friend/colleague.
