The first CLIP unit has now completed its initial run in customer service and returned to the depot. It is expected to make a few more short public runs in the coming days, then be taken out of service again for further cosmetic refurbishment work on the interior. Here's the new moquette and LED displays. And the wheelchair bay Externally the train has been thoroughly cleaned but not received new vinyl.

That moquette is amazing! A colour that actually harmonizes with the interior better than the harsh blue of barman. So glad to finally see a finished train, it looks excellent.

Brilliant! Agreed - it looks excellent. I suppose it's only a matter of time till the other trains enter service and some other trains rotate in to be refurbished (?) Can't wait to be able to ride one of them. Has anything else changed cab wise apart from the DTS, zooming in on the last picture, it looks pretty much the same. I wonder what the new DTS looks like? Also, upon looking at a few videos, the door chime has been modified, both for opening and closing. As well as Woodford's announcement saying 'Change here for trains towards Central London and Epping' Video link for the journey: click here

Maybe its me but the seat fabric design is almost psychedelic.
That said, its still far better than Barman blue and also with its London Transport Bullseye / TfL Roundel motif in the design has a hint of 1930s / 1940s seat fabrics which were (in my pov) better on the eye than some later seat fabric designs.
Alas, I did not get to see the refurbished train - I found out its timing elsewhere but I have commitments to other people and at such short notice was simply not able to leave home before midday.
However just in case it made multiple trips I did go to Hainault, and for my delight (sic) was able to watch the shuttle train departing platform 1 as my train entered platform 3. After a very long wait (much longer than usual) the next shuttle arrived but I feel sure that it was the same train that I had seen departing (it had unusual sticker mark on the cab front) and not the refurbished train.
Based on my observations I think that the Hainault Woodford shuttle has been on a 30 minute frequency using a single train - several times today when I passed through stations I saw that the electronic information boards were saying that there were severe delays on this route.

Indeed, Woodford Hainault service is supposed to have two trains so it looks like the Refurb train was withdrawn at some point and there wasn't a train available to replace it
Yesterday my first half train developed a fault and had to go into Ruislip depot while my second half train was cancelled. The 1992s are struggling.

Externally the train has been thoroughly cleaned but not received new vinyl. I that a strip of black duct tape on the driver's cab?

There’s a couple of videos on YouTube of the first run. Good to see it at last and I like the moquettes. Not so keen on the screaming door alarm. One of the videos shows the inside of one of the doors perhaps awaiting the planned additional cosmetic attention.

The new moquette has a lot of light areas, a challenge for the cleaning regime to keep it looking fresh!

The train looks great. The LED lighting makes a big difference, along with the new seat covers. Although in the YouTube videos the train did briefly come to a sudden stop part way out of Hainault station! The announcements seemed very clear - did the train get new speakers as well?

did the train get new speakers as well? I've heard that they just use a different file format, not new speakers

A May '23 response to a FOI request said: "the existing speakers will be retained but the rest of the audio system will be upgraded in terms of hardware and the quality of the audio files, which will deliver better sound quality."
Interesting that it also said the moquette, apart from the priority seats, would be replaced with new material of the existing design. Therefore the new design may've been a quite recent decision.

Having watched several videos on the refurbished 1992 stock journey between Hainault and Woodford, to me it appears that the door opening chimes have been reverted to the stock's original setup, whereby there is one long beep followed by three short beeps, instead of just one long beep as found on the current 1992 stock set up. The door closing chimes are unchanged. Can verify if it has been modified as such, or if that particular set has always retained the alarms?

You've almost answered your own question.
When the trains were introduced, the chime would play, the door would open and then play 3 more chimes before announcing the station name and its destination.
There was a thread concerning the door chimes back in 2007, they used to chime as soon as the doors were about to close. They were then modified and the chime was played in advance of the doors closing. It sounds like to me the door chime is longer, alot like when the trains were first introduced. The chimes now appear to be back to their 90s state.

When the 1992 stock is transferred to Acton Works for the CLIP works are they fitted with Tripcocks for this when travelling off the Cental Line. ?

Is there any update on the 100kph running with the refurb units?

I doubt that would be considered possible until all the trains were converted.

A video, which has surfaced on 'the Central Line Past & Present' Facebook group, had shown an announcement play, I assume, when the destination is set to Ongar:
Oops, perhaps someone forgot the fact Ongar closed on the 30 September, not 30 March, 1994?

I wonder whether the set of announcements from Emma Clarke had an announcement for Ongar post-update from Mayo?

A bit nerdy but I noticed and was impressed that the dot matrix font is a good approximation of Johnston, generally following those already on 09TS and S stock. That is, except the 'g' on the 92TS. Anyone with insider knowledge on why this 'g' was chosen? It does stand out to me as a little out of keeping with the rest of the set.

I notice there are now two "the next station" is announcements: one just after departure and the other on the approach. The latter gives more detail.
The announcements are clearer for sure from an audio perspective, but I do miss Emma Clarke's. His sound almost too performative, whereas hers felt effortless.

The 92 stock have had increasing reliability and obsolescence/spares problems and has needed this heavy overhaul/update/enhancement for many years. Definitely looking great and worth overcoming the issues with taking on a lot of the works "inhouse" (particularly systems integration & installation/fitment). Hope the User (Operator and maintenance) training and preparation progresses at pace so the train(s) can get more use, enabling any snagging to be quickly found and sorted.

Has the new train been out in service since its debut, or was it just a public launch thing and back into works again? Was it out all day, or just a couple of trips?

It looks as though the emergency instructions have been updated too. The old ones were white text on a green background, which all looked rather dated and difficult to read. The new ones are clearer in the standard blue background with white text.

Blue for priority seat does not look good when other seats are red. Grey and red go together well - not blue and red.

The idea is that the priority seats stand out as different, hit you in the eye! If they blend in, that defeats the purpose IMO.
