As a secondary issue, there don't appear to be any folding perch seats. Will the fluorescent tubes above the advertising posters/windows remain? There will be lean-to perch pads beside the PEA handles. Fluorescent tubes replaced with LED strips in same position but giving flat finish.

The flooring matting will be replaced as a few areas of corrosion are known to be in the body shell under the floor matting which require patch welding repairs.

Probably already been answered but I will ask anyway. Will the PiS displays be dot-matrix like all the other tube lines, or will they be like the LCD displays on the TFL Rail trains

Not a particularly good video as it caught me off guard, but I spotted the AC motor test train approaching Loughton station just after the final Epping service of the night. You can hear how similar it sounds to the 09/S stock, particularly at the beginning and end of the video. I'll try to capture a better video from the platform, I assume this train will follow the same pattern to Epping every Friday and Saturday.

Oh.. I'm not a fan! For all its faults I really do love the motor sounds of the 92 stock

I assume when the refurbished units are taken into service the interchanges for Stratford, Liverpool Street, Tottenham Court Road and Bond Street will be updated to reflect the opening of the Elizabeth Line?
Will they update the old units straight away or wait for all of the trains to be refurbished?

I think stickers will be applied at the interchanges initially and then new route maps installed when everything is joined up.

I believe it's been previously said a while back that the announcements have been updated to include the new railway.

Ok. I was just wondering wether Sarah Parnell might announce the full line now if she has recorded the Crossrail announcements and therefore Emma Clarke no longer does the Central Line. Also, what was the point of her doing Bank and Notting Hill Gate when they are exactly the same as before.

Also, what was the point of her doing Bank and Notting Hill Gate when they are exactly the same as before. Exactly my thoughts with the Northern line at Bank - I understand it's because the Celia announcements say Docklands Light Railway, but I personally don't see the point re-recording the whole thing just for that. I suppose the "powers that be" have some sort of philosophy they're following

As I understand it, on Central line there will be few, if any locations where wheelchairs will be able to board or alight without the assistance of a ramp manoeuvred by a staff member (excessive gap due to the configuration of the doors/lack of sills). Said staff member will, no doubt help find space. This is more of an issue on other lines where level access is provided and no staff assistance is required Yes well especially at the former LNER (etc) stations to the east of Leyton the larger than usual gap between train and platform still exists - this dates from when mainline trains (which are wider than tube trains) used the route. (Utopian cloud cuckoo-land comment:) Since the route nowadays is only used by Central Line tube trains so if there was a magical money tree somewhere then these stations could, I suppose, be made fully accessible (without staff assistance) by means of the tracks being realigned to reduce the lateral gaps and also change the track height to facilitate a same-level platform / train interface. Oh and at some of them lifts etc., being installed. I never really realised the stations on the section from Leyton to Epping being far from the platform or way off level. Other in tunnel stations seems to have the same gap or is it me.

The tunnel sections were built for Tube size trains so the gap is normal.

CLIP Prototype Train 2 – Central Line test run 26 April 2022 As part of the Central Line Improvement Programme CLIP on Tuesday 26 April we completed the first dynamic test run with CLIP prototype train 2 with all saloon systems active. This is another significant step for CLIP. Train 2 includes replacement of Data Transmission System (DTS) and Passenger Information System (PIS), replacement saloon LED lighting, saloon CCTV and saloon modifications for RVAR. The test included CCTV and PIS (partial functionality) for the first time. In order to get the train and new equipment ready for the trial run the team needed to overcome the following challenges: DTS/PIS Software update loaded and tested PIS – ACI bracket and harness installed Covering of PIS display on train exterior CCTV final Installation CCTV re-crimping completed after camera installation CCTV new Brackets modified and installed Technical Assurance for Dynamic test running Test Crews & Test Paths booked and briefed with train crew and attending engineers Train prep completed by Fleet with support from CLIP engineer for non-standard elements

A timely throw back with this Thames News feature from 1990 featuring a mock up of the 92 stock premiering many features now commonplace on LU. May have taken 30 odd years and RVAR legislation but CLIP is going someway in fulfilling some of those original concepts.

Their reliability upon delivery probably forced an alternative solution for that line!

I love the LED on the map of the 92 stock which reminds me of trains in France and Holland, seen at 0:30 seconds The mention of handrails where people would hit there heads when they stand up is not that bad. The worst handrails are on the picadilly line above the doors, it is lethal and can you knock your head on them entering and exiting the train; that is one aspect of the 73 stock refurbs I would NOT miss.

Interesting to see the LED map, I suppose CLIP means we'll finally see visual electronic info, after 30 years! Also makes you think when they say the '62s were 30 years old when the '92s were on the verge of replacing them. And as a complete aside - is that a young Matt Lucas?!

Ok, I assume Sarah Parnell will completely replace Emma Clarke now because she did the new TFL Rail announcements in 2018 so she probably did the Elizabeth line announcements as well, and of course, they probably thought she may as well do the rest of the line.

I'm pretty sure it's been said in this thread before but I don't think there are plans for Sarah to replace Emma? Sarah will only announce these stations when the Elizabeth line opens: Stratford [interchange only] Liverpool Street [interchange only] Bank Tottenham Court Road [Presumably interchange only] Bond Street [Presumably interchange only] Notting Hill Gate Shepherds Bush [interchange only] White City [interchange only] Ealing Broadway [presumably interchange only] I'm saying presumably as what they did in 2018 when they changed them was that they kept Emma to do 'This is' and the 'The next station is' for some stations, but for Bank and Notting Hill Gate she replaced Emma fully! I'm not sure if she's going to announce the interchange or replace Emma for the new Elizabeth Line stations.
