Anyone know if LO ticket machines will release prebooked NR tickets? Yes, most will do as London Overground have made an attempt to span the gulf between the Rail Delivery Group and TFL's own fare system. Same goes for all TFL Rail ticket machines.

At Stratford there are two outwardly-identical new-style machines (with the vertically positionable display) adjacent to each other. The one on the left can be used to collect NR tickets, the one on the right cannot. Or at least that was my experience a couple of months back.

Anyone know if LO ticket machines will release prebooked NR tickets? Yes, they will do as London Overground is still technically part of the National Rail network which means that they have to be able to sell tickets to any of those destinations as well as issue tickets for collection as such. Same goes for all TFL Rail ticket machines. The MerseyRail machine at Lime St low level doesn't allow you to collect tickets, (perhaps because Merseyrail don't sell tickets online) you have to collect from the 'mainline' concourse upstairs. I think the requirement is only that if you sell tickets, you have to sell all tickets. You wouldn't expect to collect your 'Click & Collect' Asda shopping at your local Tesco.

I think I may have got caught out by this because after those new totem style machines went in, I just walked up to the machines without looking for the correct line. I seem to remember that when the Northern ticket hall offices were still open, there were a couple of machines marked with National Rail and a trio for Tube/DLR/LO. Will have to check next time round weather the functionality of these new totem machines has formed some almighty coalition because they certainly are capable of issuing tickets for sale and collection from multiple operators as the ones at Heathrow are. LO managed stations (81 out of 112 plus a few others) have machines with the ability to issue NR tickets.

My point was just because they can issue all tickets, doesn't mean they can be to collect tickets bought online.

Noticed some oddities with the LO TVM's at Forest Hill. The smaller TVM's that also have the travel info on them have no issue accepting low denomination Oyster PAYG top-ups using credit/debit cards, while the larger ones which for some reason have a portrait touch screen with a landscape image are the same as LU with only top up's of £5 or over unless paying with cash.

The portrait screen is so the height above the ground can be adjusted so that e.g. people in wheelchairs can reach it while not requiring tall people to stoop.

Reading the story, they have deferred the decision until they have had time to analyse the thousands of responses they've had. This isn't (as the RMT are claiming) a recognition of the strength of their view, simply an indication that they are undertaking an actual consultation exercise (not just a nominal one) and as a practical matter need more time to actually do the job.
