Once the track circuit conversion is done, would that mean Ealing Common to Rayners Lane would be S Stock compatible? For empty stock moves with several other restrictions, yes.

Depends what you compare it to. A lot cheaper than trying to make the new rolling stock fully compatible with 33Hz signalling when you consider whole life costs. Presumably the trains do have some filters incorporated in the traction system to achieve acceptable EMC emissions performance (already covering down to 50Hz?). The scope of the enabling works includes some Traction rail replacement/improvements - Can anyone shed some light on the technical reason/configuration that necessitates this?

Yes on filters although not sure it's for as low as 50Hz as there aren't 50Hz track circuits involved. Cnnductor rail rail improvements are usually for low loss rail to support increased power needs. The new train is a little heavier than 73TS and if new signalling is ever implemented, the train will then be able to use higher performance to reduce journey times and run more frequent service. There may be conductor rail mods too to reduce gapping at certain locations.

Thanks - with respect to the EMC emissions - I was thinking more of compliance with general legislation, hence the thought of 50 Hz. Regarding "low loss" conductor rail - again just curious whether it is the resistance or the inductance properties that are important (thinking that this has come to the for with the introduction of AC motors)

Low resistance is the benefit in low loss conductor rail. Can sometimes elimininate need for an additional sub-station. Remember too that this benefits regen brake energy recovery too, transferring energy from the braking train to others motoring or simply running auxiliaries.

Not long until the two week closure begins. I wonder if any notices are appearing at stations across the line? Are there CLD stickers in the carriages as well?

I can confirm that notices have been posted at Southgate for a week or so. Not sure about the on-train diagrams - I rarely look at those.

I would have thought that they would have put CLD stickers on the diagrams because of how long the closure is lasting for. Like how they did for the Victoria Line closure back in 2015.

No stickers as far as I can see inside the trains

Wouldn't have thought there would be any stickers for a 2 week closure in trains anyways

What service is being run during this closure, are all Eastbound trains reversing at Wood Green?

Wouldn't have thought there would be any stickers for a 2 week closure in trains anyways Well I mean the Piccadilly Line is a busy line, so you would think TFL would give as much notice as possible!

Wouldn't have thought there would be any stickers for a 2 week closure in trains anyways From past experience of managing sticker installation it would take more than 2 weeks to complete the task.

I agree. If it was a 2-3 month closure, then yes, it would make sense to apply stickers. imran talks about advertising the closure as much as possible. Normally this is done by advertising a closure on various social media platforms, station announcements, posters at various stations etc. The average commuter wouldn't pay that much attention to stickers, as they know where they are going. For people who don't use the tube, it's a different story. IMO posters and announcements should do the trick for a 2 week closure. Regular information of closure is being posted by TfL on Xwitter (Twitter/X whatever you want to call it these days) In short it would be a waste of money & resources to apply stickers for a 2 week closure. I've seen some 92 stocks with the 'Bond Street - Elizabeth line opening soon' sticker.

Is it T/Op gets in back cab at Wood Green and is carried into sdg for a quick turn round onto the WB.

What duties will the Cockfosters-based t/ops be doing during the closure? Presumably some will be travelling to Wood Green in staff taxis to run some services from there but it obviously wont need all of them.

Is the 2-week closure all about depot upgrade works? Replacement of track in all platforms and a set of points at Arnos Grove.

there are currently cars being constructed in Goole, the first full 9-car train is due from Siemens Mobility Wildenrath in just over a week. There will probably be an update once it has safely arrived in London.
