Anyone know what this obstruction on the track is, is it possibly due to the works at Holland Park?
Thanks

Twitter reports are that it's due to construction going on at Westfield and that some concrete fell between Shepherd's Bush & White City

Interesting to see that the 09 Stock has been modified to run on the Central Line
Edit: The BBC article originally used a picture of an 09 stock, hence my comment. Alas it has now been changed to a pic of the damage

Interesting to see the 09 Stock has been modified to run on the Central Line Maybe the modification didn't work and the obstruction is an 09 stock train that has got stuck!

Didn't the last lot to do that get a fine from the HSE for not following proper procedure with regards to surveying for Underground services? (And I don't mean tube lines!)

Looks like it's now reopened (albeit with severe delays as one would expect).

Workers in Westfield have apparently punctured the tunnel with some drilling they are doing.

They've also got a new entrance at Shepherd's Bush Overground station which is not being used yet. I presume it'll be in use when the expansion to Westfields is complete.

If I recall the 'new' entrance at SPB Overground Station was opened last April, I've since used that Northern entrance in Autumn. Although I'm unsure whether the new entrance is in full operation.

This is madness, how did they manage that? Lucky that no-one was hurt, no trains derailed whilst in motion - and that they did not breach anything else at the same time (gas, water, electricity, sewage....)

Two Central Line trains were damaged by test boring for the Redbridge flyover for the North Circular.
They ran into the drills some time apart.
The guys stopped when the first train hit. The track was inspected and nothing found and trains started running again.
The guys then drilled another hole and hit another train.
Saw them both at Acton. Serious dents to cab.

Also several years ago a similar occurance between Temple and Blackfriars EB with rubble ending up on the track, I can't recall if any trains were damaged.

A passenger alarm was operated about 17.35, as a westbound train was running through. There was reports of several loud bangs on the train roof.

Two Central Line trains were damaged by test boring for the Redbridge flyover for the North Circular. . Wanstead 4th March 1986, during test borings for the M11 link road. The incident is mentioned in the report on the Old Street incident. They didn't drill a second hole. They put a probe put down the first hole to look for their drill bit. The drill bit was by then in Wanstead station, lodged in the cab-to- cab telephone equipment in the cab bulkhead of the train that had hit it. The probe was hit at low speed by a second train which had been sent in without passengers to investigate. .

I'm assuming that the tunnel in question is the part of the line that used to be in the open between Shepherds Bush and White City?

I'm assuming that the tunnel in question is the part of the line that used to be in the open between Shepherds Bush and White City? I wondered about that too, since the media pictures show what looks like a modern-era flat concrete roof that was breached - and not a traditional circular tube train tunnel. Simon

Then it's a Covered Way and not a Tunnel. Covered Ways are marked with a plate on the wall CW with number.
