A bit late now, but for anyone who hasn't had enough of them yet my photos from on board during the day start here: wavygravy.smugmug.com/Trains/London-C-Stock-Explorer-Tour/38458288_2PrL75#!i=3177151617&k=8HMm7XN I left the tour at Upminster and just managed to get back to Kings Cross for the tour to pass back through on the way to Hammersmith. Quite happy with the 'what on earth is that' photo of kids on Kings Cross platform.

I'm thinking of going on the 29th of June tour, when will tickets go on sale and once I'm on the train will there I need to get off before it gets back to hammersmith?

I know there's no toilets at Moorgate. Am I right in thinking there are also no toilets at Hammersmith, leaving the only toilets as Barking? Edit to ask: Are there likely to be a lot of us going? If so, has anyone thought about which carriage of the six we should take over?

Since I joined this forum I have not seen a thread anywhere on it in praise of C stock.
Now that they are nearly all gone we are engulfed in floods of crocodile tears.
Oh! You fickle people!

Oh! You fickle people! Some of us have always praised the C stock (I'm biased, though, as I drove them on occasions when I worked for LU - give my right arm to have one last drive, too!) Are there any provisional timings for the farewell tour? I was thinking more of what time it's finishing at Hammersmith.

There are toilets at the shopping centre at Hammersmith. Expensive and dirty, last time I was there but only a one minute walk from the ticket barriers.

You could also book places over the weekend - mine and my wife's places were booked yesterday

Ticket is booked, for centimental reasons, I have to come and pay my respects!
Like electra, I've always praised the C stock, I am fond of them for many enjoyable afternoons spent skiving off from college, going round the circle line with friends whilst taking time to deliberate where to go, riding home from work, the dodgy westinghouse applications that sometimes went wrong, the accompanying smell of brake dust. Proper trains!
Will there be a forum meet of some sort?

They always formed the backdrop to stays with my grand folks in Westbourne Park.
Me and SWMBO are in Car C - A15 & A16 - if anyone wants to say hello!

West Ham siding? Maybe they want me on the train for 'other' reasons (having been one of the team who commissioned it).

There is nothing wrong with West Ham like most places if they used the signalling as it should then they wouldnt get these problems. It would help if they used the sidings in and out in passenger they can do that as it colour light signals in and out no shunt signals involved

Does anyone know if its permitted to leave the C special at Wimbledon for photo purposes and rejoin it at Barking?

I guess it depends how long the turnaround time at Wimbledon is. On the Explorer tour you could easily have left the train and picked it up again at any of the scheduled stops where there was door release (Amersham, Acton Town, Northfields and Upminster), showing your ticket when you got back on if asked. Barking is obviously the lunch break so as long as there is a door release at Wimbledon my guess is that you'd be okay (I believe that there's around a ten minute stop at Wimbledon, so would imagine that there would be a door release).

The turnaround time at Wimbledon is scheduled at 13 minutes, as previously posted. But the key question remains - does anyone know if the doors will be opened? The timings given out appear to exclude the possibility. The weather will probably be hot and as there's no a/c passengers might be uncomfortable and feel like detainees in transit. Am trying to construct a ride-cum photo plan but without proper info it isn't easy.

I suspect that they may well be opened - 13 minutes inside an enclosed C stock in high temperatures is going to be uncomfortable as you said. It would also be an opportunity to head to the loo, or grab a drink from somewhere. If I were you, I'd send an email off to the LTM, or maybe try your luck on twitter

If anyone is going to be taking photos of this train at or around Paddington, I would very much appreciate a picture of the C and an HST in the same shot!

5578 + 5531 + 5721 passing Wimbledon Park eastbound, departing Barking, and then at West Ham, Mansion House and Hammersmith (I missed the journey from Moorgate to Wimbledon due to a London Midland service being cancelled this morning):

Someone has got a very cruel sense of humour it would seem. I suspect that it wasn't prjb who put that on the destination blind!

Did the train get diverted after it left Whitechapel? I went to Gloucester Road and Paddington (Hammersmith and City Line platforms) at the times it was meant to arrive, only it didn't.
