Excellent news! I've just found some dusty old 3.5" disks with Simudrive on... Remember that? Purely text-based, but fairly accurate! Look how far we've come with train sims since those days of looking at a screen of text!! ;D Edit: Maybe I shouldn't admit this here with managers being members, but just had a quick run through the city on this and managed to overrun 2 stations, and SPADded 3 times! At Paddington I managed to overrun and SPAD resulting in me being gapped on the points just beyond! ;D

Whatever the controls, braking always includes the feel in the seat of the pants. That's why you need the latest generation simulators for driver training on LU, as prjb has said elsewhere- they really do give you seat of the pants feel. I tend to do exactly the same as you on BVE!!!

At Paddington I managed to overrun and SPAD resulting in me being gapped on the points just beyond! ;D Had a run through the new Bakerloo BVE myself from Elephant to Harrow and managed a few overruns myself. Is this a fairly accurate reflection of EP Min, Nor, Max? I knew the Bakerloo was a slow run through the centre of London but I'm still surprised at how many speed restrictions there are. It's not the fastest journey in the world. Took me a bit to get used to NR signals though, which I know nothing about. Am I right in assuming: Green - Go Double Yellow - Two sections ahead free Yellow - One section ahead free, repeater for red Red - Stop. These sections are a lot lot bigger than LU's so I was driving along in two minds whether to wind up towards a red, just so I actually made it there!

I think you're right. Although, for some reason, a nagging thought at the back of my mind is saying that Double Yellow is a repeater for a red.... like a double caution?

Your four aspect signals on the mainline go as follows...
GREEN ---> DOUBLE YELLOW ---> YELLOW --->RED
Hope this helps...

Does anyone know how BVE wants me to stop at stations on the Bakerloo north of QP? I stopped dead in line with the stop mark at all of these stations and got readings of '8.6 m overrun', '9.5 m overrun', '7.7 m overrun', and so on. I know in real life you'd stop at the 's' mark, so that's what I've done on here. Also the clips of train radio sound very old, on the Elephant - Harrow run just north of Warwick Avenue it is heard to say: "Train 222 are you a refurb over?" The interrun period of unrefurbed and refurbed 72's was (IIRC) about 13 years ago. Provides a nice atmospheric touch to the sim though!

With the Stop boards nort of QP, you've just gotta get it as close to the first stop board as you can (or that's what I did). I agree with the train radio, but I like it I've emailed Paul Jobber to ask if there could be some sort of patch released with the auto announcers in, just to add to the realism even further. Am still awaiting a reply

Hmm that just made me think. Where actually are the stop markers on the ECL - QP section? Is it just to align your centre door with the monitors, cause that's what I did.

Also that class 321 sim is a nightmare! I tried it out on the QP - Harrow run and found myself turning it off very quickly. I couldn't figure out how to cancel the AWS alarm so hit a load of buttons, only to get all sorts of horns and alarms and not being able to turn them off again. I'll stick to the 72 stock I think.

Above all though, well done to the author for a good BVE route. I've driven it a few times this morning and like it!

I wonder if there's going to be a 1975 heritage route like the Northern?

Has anyone else noticed that at some stations you get the pilot light before the doors close??....

I'm not bothered by it though as I usually tell when the doors are closed by listening to them shut. That said though - it can be a useful way of making up a few seconds if I'm running late....

You get the pilot light before the doors close due to a slight limitation in the way the train is set up. You get a different closing announcement depending on the side, and this is the reason why.

I personally don't use the pilot light on the BVE 72 stock. I have the zoom on so I can see above 10 mph on the speedo and each side of the nearside cab window. This means I can't see it. The way I get around it is to listen to the doors close, then wind up to 'shunt' (P1) with my other finger covering the emergency brake button. If I get a little red message telling me not to wind up with the doors open, on comes the brake and if you do it properly the train doesn't even move. The message comes on instantly if doors are open

The first mirror is for the 313, second is for the LU trains according to Steve Green. To quote:

Basically the doorcls sound starts 5 seconds before the pilot light. As you get an announcmeent with this train the total sound is > 5s :. you end up with the doors still closing as the lpilot light comes on.

Works well with 38ts too (once you have got rid of the cab radio announcements).
