Hi Guys, Sorry if I have missed it - I did have a look around but could not see anything on it :-\ Does anybody know the reason for the weekend closure on the MET this weekend? I was going to catch the MET into Central as I am meeting friends for the day and fancied a run out on the line as I have been using Chiltern recently from Wycombe but think I will stick with the mainline again as I dont fancy a bus ride! Thanks in advance

There is a thread here about it, but nothing on the reason why. It says engineering works, so I'd guess at track replacment.

I've just received a message as to the reason why but as it was sent personally I wont post it on here.
A shame though as I was looking forward to a jaunt on the MET! I was going to get the other half to drop me down at Uxbridge as its only 10 minutes on the motorway but alas she is working!
Chiltern @ £16.50 it is then! *winces*

That's a lot of money! Can you book cheaper tickets online? When I use Southern to get from West Sussex to London Victoria it can be as cheap as £3.30 when you book a few days in advance online

Thanks in advance If you don't mind a stroll through Cassiobury Park you could walk between the Watford stations and stay on TfL services - and get a daytime ride on the Rickmansworth - Croxley north curve into the bargain!

norbitonflyer - I would love to bud but unfortunately I have a friend with me who does not share my love of all things tfl and tube! So for him its a case of we need to get there, and get there as quick as we can Kabs - Even in advance the cheapest I can get is around £6 for a single - these tickets are very rarely available though mate. It's worth noting the £16.50 does not include a travel card! But, thankfully thanks to my job I do not pay for Tfl services so I can do without one!

Go to hemel and use London Midland. I'm sure it's cheaper than £16.50 to get into London.

Get a Network Rail Card if you don't qualify for the others. £28 gets you 34% off at weekends and can be used for travelcard purchases. Of course you need to use it enough to recoup the initial outlay. I presume all eng works are off during the Olympics.

I don't think that the Network railcard would work for this journey as there is now a £13 minimum fare. A discounted High Wycombe - Marylebone Off-Peak Day return is £10.90 so I think it wouldn't qualify?

The £13 minimum does not apply at weekends or on bank holidays.

Indeed carltona is correct! I will be picking up the form for the Network Railcard when i'm at the station. I've had a good look at the card and although it does not save me much on a weekday it definately does on a weekend. Plus up to 4 adults can travel on the same Network Railcard and all receive approx 1/3 off at weekends.
My young persons one ran out the other day (saved me a fortune!) and I am now over the age of getting another one - (I should have got a 3 year one last year!)
It will definately save me money as I travel to London quite a lot on weekends. Chiltern do some good 3 for 2 and 4 for 2 deals from Wycombe but nothing for 1 or 2 persons.
Bengley - If I lived closer to that end of the county I would do bud but I live in Wycombe so it would not be cost effective.
Overall it's just a shame I wont be on the met I was hoping to get a ride on an A-stock! Passing through Baker St the other week to the Jubilee it seemed they were very much the minority!
Anyway, it doesent matter as I will be winning the lottery tonight and will be buying my own 8 car unit for preservation so I can have all the rides on it I wish then! :-D

What sort of frequency is the Uxbridge service going to run this weekend? Is it 8tph to Aldgate and run 8tph Baker Street-Harrow? Or will it be 6tph Uxbridge-Aldgate and 6tph Harrow-Baker Street? Or neither!! ;D

The £13 minimum does not apply at weekends or on bank holidays. Did not know that - might get one then when I'm no longer eligible for Young Persons

They may be a few extra trains thrown in as per usual. What diagram these trains may run is anyones guess. Often extra terminators to Harrow can be used but as a 6tph service is reversing trains may tip out on platform 1 at Wembley and go hide in the depot for a while.
If it where up to me, and it isn't, given the capacity I'd operate a few Moorgate-Wembley trains and vice versa after to shift the crowds. Again this depends on paths...

Extra MET trains stand spare: T470 will stand spare in Neasden depot from 16.00 until 20.15 for use as required. T471 will stand spare in Neasden depot from 16.15 until 20.30 for use as required. T472 will stand spare in Neasden depot from 16.30 until 20.45 for use as required.

Does anybody know what the ratio of A Stock: S Stock will be on Uxbridge services this weekend, I'm assuming there'll only be a very small amount of A Stock operating (if any).

Sadly I will be in South London away from Met territory this weekend.
On the pricing points raised by mikeyr1234, I think the Met off peak is very good value on PAYG given Amersham into Zone 1 is only £3.70. I assume you don’t have an annual gold card (i.e. a TfL or National Rail annual season ticket in the Network Railcard area) which in effect gives the same benefits as the Network Railcard (plus cheap 1st class upgrades off peak). If not, then as you suggest I think a Network Railcard is a good idea if regularly using trains in the South East. Don’t forget an off-peak 1 day Travelcard from High Wycombe comes down from £19.50 to £12.85 with either a Network Gold Card or a Network Railcard (when not caught by the £13 minimum M-F).
