Will it be possible for someone to let me know the number of S Stocks/A Stocks up the north end later on so I know what ratio S Stock to A Stock there is up the North end tomorrow. Thanks in advance Went Chorleywood to Watford and back early this morning - roughly equal numbers of As and Ss (I saw three and four respectively). Includes 5000, which I got to ride. (Edit - it seems I must have seen two of them twice, as a klater post says only five trains were running) Various confused people at Croxley and Ricky wondering how they had got there - and one who got to Chorleywood before realising the train he'd boarded at Watford wasn't going to Baker Street!

Maybe not. There will be spare trains in the sidings at Ricky and Watford so there may be the odd change.

Managed to get a ride from Chesham to Watford and then back again this morning. If anybody is interested it appeared that the whole service on the north end ws run by S Stocks except from one A, this being 5114+5169. 5000 was not in service from what I could see. A lot of As and Ss in the sidings at Rickmansworth and Watford though

5114+5169 was the only train of A stock that was out this afternoon, too. All the other trains were being worked by S stock. 5000 was in Rickmansworth south sidings.

On Saturday, we went out to Chesham for a walk around before coming back. On an S8 northwards, and 5000 on the way back. I've never been out that way before, but it was so great going from Watford to Ricky direct... why don't they run that as a regular service? It'd relieve so much pressure on the roads around Croxley and Two Bridges. The S8 was smooth and slightly smelly (new rubber/foam smell), 5000 was throwing us around like a pair of olives in a martini! It was weird being on a tube and looking out of the window only to see a llama staring back at you. And where else on the underground could you see a Christmas tree farm? All in all, a lovely little ride! So glad we did it.

It is a great ride out that way isnt it? What I always find strange is how you can go from the hustle and bustle of The City or Baker St all the way out into Bucks!
On the other hand my journey into the capital on Saturday with Chiltern was an absolute nightmare!
I arrived in plenty of time to catch my train at Wycombe station.....(or so I thought) - Queues for the ticket machine and kiosk were out of the station with people milling around everywhere trying to push into the various queues so they could get their tickets to Wembley.
After waiting for over 15 minutes in the queue I finally paid my £16.50! (At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!) for my return to London.
We then had to dash over to platform 3 to try and board our train that had arrived. Well, what can I say: For one of the busiest trains of the day Chiltern provided a 3 car Class 168 which was so full that BTP had PCSO's on scene preventing people from boarding the train!
Just BRILLIANT! So off we trundle over to platform 1 for the slow stopping service - standing room only (I say standing room I mean standing room for sardines only) The driver did not allow anyone to board the train after Beaconsfield due to the sheer amount of over crowding. To quote the driver saying "DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BOARD THIS TRAIN - THIS TRAIN IS PACKED". Great.
Anyway, we finally get to Wembley where most of the crowds depart - I then manage to get a seat and we pull into Marylebone around 12 minutes late on a journey which I can honestly say is one of the worst Chiltern experiences of my life!
They knew full well that the demand for seats (or standing room) would be huge around that time of the day and yet chose to provide a completely inadequate service for passengers who were paying a fortune!
I am so annoyed I will be penning my first ever letter of complaint to a train operating company!

If it's any consolation, London Midland were running 4 carriage trains, despite huge numbers of Saracens fans trying to get from Watford Junction to Wembley Central with both the Overground and the Met out. Unfortunately, until the short platform extensions at Wembley Central are completed, only 4 cars are allowed to open their doors at the station. Eight car trains cause long delays unloading or loading (as I've seen on other occasions).

Rather than start a new thread I just thought I would add to this one:
In regard to the engineering works this weekend at the North end of the MET what is it all for? I am guessing that to close the entire North end for a full 4 days it must be quite a big job whatever it is?
