"* In exactly the same way that in Scotland the choice was between no railway or a single track one with the minimum of double track necessary for a 30minute service. Anything other than the later decimated the BCR such that the end result would have been nothing at all."
I understand that the Borders railway, like nearly all railway reopenings, is doing far better than expected. Given therefore, that the assumed benefits have turned out to be far higher, in turn changing the BCR, it is most annoying that better passing loops were not built, as they could well have been afforded if the economic pundits weren't so doubting. I suspect something similar with CRL, but by the time its built any extra economic activity generated is unavailable for further enhancements to the scheme.
Just quickly to get back to the Mets stabling requirements though, what the comments so far seem to indicate is that the Jubilee takes up a bit more space at Neasden, forcing some Mets to stable elsewhere? Watford an already hold 5 though, so presumably nothing is changing there?

I haven't got the numbers to hand but the long term strategy (and it is long term since more Jubilee space at Neasden isn't needed for 3+ years yet) is to ensure that Neasden is only used for S8s and heavy maintenance for S7. S7s will otherwise be stabled away from Neasden including at the new Farringdon City Sidings to be introduced c2019 but I think that is getting well away from MLX.

TfL Board on 19 July will take an update paper on, inter alia, the Investment Programme, which contains a small section on the Metropolitan Line Extension (pp12-14). In brief: - Stage 2 contract award significantly delayed (originally due end of March) but hoped to be signed off in q2 (i.e. before end September) - Start on site expected 12 September 2016 - Start on structures piling expected 29 November 2016 - Station construction expected to start 16 February 2017 THC

This link is to the presentation given to the MLE Community Liaison Group for Three Rivers on 15 June. There are a few interesting nuggets within, including reference to a potential name change for Croxley station. THC
