I spotted a '67 this afternoon (c.16:00) at Warren Street (Southbound) but I didn't get a chance to note down the number.

Haven't even seen one today, even let a few 09s go to see if one would turn up on a Sisters going northbound but nothing, all 09s.

Well there are only 2 running in the peaks on thw whole line vs 36 2009 stocks! The first one leaves Seven Sisters at about 3.50pm (evening peak), so there isn't much point of waiting for one before then.

I did pretty well over the last couple of days. Arrived at Paddington yesterday at 1725, got the Bakerloo to Oxford Circus, let one 09 stock leave, and sat down to eat my sandwich, only to have 79+?? run in. Then I got off at Kings Cross as planned, and decided to eat there instead, let one 09 stock go, and then in runs 61+??, which I had up to Highbury & Islington. Then this morning I turn up at Kings Cross (around 0930), ready to head south, and there's 79+?? again.

I also was on 59+79 last night. The train arrived at Warren Street around 17.55 and I was a bit worried I wasn't going to get on as it was so packed. But I wormed my way in to 4159 and had a seat by the time we reached Kings X. I went all the way to Seven Sisters and then patiently waited on Platform 5 for its return. It came in on time and I travelled in 3159 to Brixton.
Hopefully I'll be able to do it again today.

I wonder if they will go earlier than the 1st July "milestone" date? There's also an RMT strike on that date which might impact on plans too.

I was intrigued to see some withdrawn cars at KRS Eastleigh today, we were there taking an ex LOROL 508 for a run up to Woking... Visible in the yard were 3003/3103/3084/4003 & 4103...(may be more indoors) all marked up 'Car for re-use DO NOT SCRAP'. As we were leaving 4084 turned up on an Alleleys low loader. Photos will follow soon as I can find the damn lead for my Camera! The chaps on site were of the opinion they were there for storage 'for LU infrastructure trains'

Oh, very interesting. I hope you can find your camera lead.
Most of those cars are 1972mk1 stock converted to run on the Victoria, very interesting......

The chaps on site were of the opinion they were there for storage 'for LU infrastructure trains' The rumour I heard was a small number of cars were being retained as spares for the Bakerloo Line. What is clear is that the 72 stock cars are more useful in that they can readily run on nearly all of London Underground, and are more useful than the previous stored 72MkI stock in that they haven't been rotting away in sidings for years. The flip side of the coin is that LU stored a lot of 72 and 83 stock cars in the late 1990s at various locations, virtually none of which ever again served a useful purpose, and in a lot of cases required more complicated and expensive disposal operations than if they'd been scrapped with the mainstay of their respective fleets. If all the retained cars are ex 72MkI stock, it would unfortunately still appear the 1967 stock is destined for near extinction.

I guess we'll see what happens to 'em... We did have the IOW discussion, sort of 'if they want Ballast motors, why bring trailers?' and you can bet Stagecoach will at least go & look at them while they're there. It'll take a fair bit of work to re-convert the cabs, but then theres a lot to do anyways. Watch this depot I suppose.

I think the IoW trains are still crew operated? If so, the 1972mk1 would be very useful as I think the old guards panels were simply panelled over and over-ridden. There is not much difference between the 67 and 72 trailers but I can't see the 67 DMs finding further use.

It's quite simple actually, 67TS and 72TS are the only ones still around that are gauged for the whole of the LU network (although high lift shoe gear is required for the central London section of the Central Line due to the positive conductor rail height). These are being put into strategic store for future use as engineers vehicles. The trailer cars are there mainly to provide spares for Bakerloo Line.

Dan

Will any whole vehicals go to the Bakerloo then? Would there be a rough number as to how many?

When I say spares for the Bakerloo I mean components. I haven't seen anything to suggest that the 72TS Mk II fleet is going to be augmented with 67TS vehicles.

Thanks for that.
Somewhat suprised though, theres a 4 car unit on the Bakerloo with an UNDM in it. Would have thought replacing it with a 72 mk1 DM would have been fairly useful. Perhaps not though!

There would be no real gain in replacing the UNDM in unit 3299, as it is not like it is a completely unique vehicle (being just a UNDM turned around). The UNDM is better for the passengers anyway (an extra door and a bit more standing room) than a center DM, where the cabs are not used except in the depot. The only real need for releasing the UNDM would be if another complete train where to be made up, when the UNDM would be needed for the extra three car unit.

Possibly my last trip on a 67 given work commitments, got 3040/1 in Friday's evening peak (I think it was set 250, that's usually about the time I head for home).

I managed to catch 3041/3140 on Friday afternoon aswell. Caught 3061/3060 up to Seven Sisters p4 arr @ 16:58, then dashed over to platform 5 to catch 40/41, dep at 17:04 3041/3140 were indeed working as set 250. - 3061/3160 were 247.
