Does anybody knows how reliable the 1967 stock is in there last few months in service? I haven't been on a 67 stock train in a while. At first I spent ages trying to wait for a 2009 stock train, but now the 67's are becoming more and more rare. I would say the 67's are as reliable as they have been over the years in service. Like all trains on LU, they have had their faults and problems, but I would like to say they are still fairly reliable and have a few more years use in them. The same can be said for the A stock as well. I've used the Victoria line quite a lot in the past and I have only ever been caught up in a delay because of a faulty train once. This was before the 09's started rolling out.

The 67 stock is reliable for a old train and the same goes for the A60 stock. Its the 2009 stock which is the most unreliable! However, the 2009 stock will get more reliable over time and unfortantly the 1967 stock and the A60 stock will become unrelaible as there probally wont be much new parts left. The 1967 and A60 stock have cetaintly served the lines well over the past 44 and 50 years!

As I have said on countless other threads, Cravens have been defunct since 1966, so I assume that spare parts have been tricky for the A Stock since the late 60s.

...is supposed to be this Friday. (27th)
Anyone have any specific details on when it'll be, or is it an "on the day" thing?

I asked this in the other thread - would be good to have an idea. I'll be able to get to the Vic around 4.15pm on Friday.

I will be on the Victoria Line on Friday as it will be the last day to ride on 1967 stock on the whole line. I was wondering if anybody knew what the last 67ts out of Walthamstow will be, as i would like to be on it regardless of the time. I know that the last train of the day from Walthamstow runs as far as Seven Sisters, could it be on this ? Any information would be useful to me and i'm sure others too, thanks Chris

Are you sure it will be the last 67 stock "on the whole line"? Or just between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow? We haven't had confirmation on this yet...

Suggestions are it will be Train 206, 23:46 ex-W Cen. There will be no special commemoration, but something is planned for the very last one of all.

A bulletin has been issued to this effect :
The last day of ’67 stock operation between Walthamstow Central and Seven Sisters will be Friday 27 May 2011. It had been hoped to mark this occasion as a specific ‘last’ train during the evening. However several of the remaining ’67 stock trains have been scheduled for service till late on Friday as the Victoria line upgrade project need as many ’09 stocks in the depot as possible to carry out modifications after this weekend’s asset replacement closure. It is expected that the last ’67 stock train will be train number 206 leaving Walthamstow Central at 2346. A small number of ’67 stock trains are being retained to work two peak hour workings between Seven Sisters and Brixton. The last ’67 stock from Seven Sisters on the line will be officially commemorated and I expect this to be in July.

Thanks. I'll be up in London tomorrow morning. Hopefully there will be some '67 stock out during the day which looks likely given the above.

Hmm...I suppose they could live with 2 cancellations, couldn't they? Would it really make that much difference? Or are the benefits of those 2 peak hour trains considered to trump the benefits of being able to use the regenerative braking to the full extent? I think they would just hold up all the 09s behind them [as they currently do]...

Where and when does train 206 leave public service? I know it is an inter peak stabler, but I'm not sure where it stables at the end of the day. Probably in Northumberland Park depot.

Obviously, 206 will have to go back to Northumberland Park this Friday, but isn't it normally stabled at Walthamstow overnight?

Looking at the first and lasts timetable for the Victoria Line it looks doesn't look like there aren't any ECS trains from Walthamstow Central at the end of the night and the last trains in service only run to Seven Sisters. So it almost certainly has to stable in the depot - if it stabled overnight at Walthamstow 206 wouldn't be the last 67 in public service!
It could of course run ECS at the start of traffic on Saturday but this would seem to be quite an odd thing to timetable.

They can still ran 67's this weekend between Brixton and Seven Sisters.

Would they have to change the train numbers around or something?

They are called Walthamstow stablers because they were stabled there overnight from the previous day. However, the train that stables there isn't numbered 206.

I think they would just hold up all the 09s behind them [as they currently do]... Cancellations in peak hours cause a lot of overcrowding, even it is one train here and there. The overcrowding then holds up the next train due to the time taken to get passengers on and off, which delays the train behind that . . . So if they can aovid cancellations, they probably will. There are currently 37 2009 stocks available for service, which means they could run 35 in peak service. They will need 3 more 09's to be available to run the whole service, which will be around the start of July. So I personally think they'll keep the 67's going/

Its a shame the 1967 stock is being scrapped I would say they have at least another 5 years left In them. At least they will be in operation till July hopefully but I have heard Rumors that they could be going sooner than that

Better to replace them now - they are over 40 years old after all, very respectable for a tube train. As much as I like them, they have had their day. But they deserve a good send off!

These times are incorrect - see later post for correct times!
Some info for those following the last train:
These timings are from the journey planner.
Brixton - Walthamstow Central are every 10 minutes from 2327: 2327 (arr 0002) 2337 (arr 0012) 2347 (arr 0022) 2357 (arr 0032) 0007 (arr 0042)
Last Brixton - Walthamstow Central is 0017, arr 0052.
Last Brixton - Seven Sisters is 0007, arr 0036.
Last Walthamstow Central - Brixton is 0007, arr 0049.
Last Walthamstow Central - Seven Sisters is 0023, arr 0029.
Is it possible that last Walthamstow - Seven Sisters is the last 67ts? And if it is, is it likely to be the one at arrives at 0012?
