There won't be any out during the Olympics unless there is severe disruption.

There won't be any out during the Olympics unless there is severe disruption. Very true, especially with 57 S8's available for service! Will be interesting to see what happens with them after the Olympics. There won't be any need to run them, so I suspect they will decide on a day to run the last A stock in regular service and bring out the odd one leading up to that date.

Talking to one of the drivers the other day, they are expected to run a few here and there in the peaks to keep them in servicable order and for training. So keep you're eyes peeled!

Why would any training be done on a stock that's about to be scrapped? Surely an S Stock would be used?

Given the lack of reports, I'm assuming that the last A stock run to date was on the morning of Friday 27th July? Have any sneaked out without us noticing?

You are correct and nothing has been in service since.
However, they must be maintained for service "just in case" in the same way that crews must remain au fait with them - one was 'stopped' a week or two ago for crew (re)training.
Don't hold your breath though. If you see one creep out, you will be very lucky.

You are correct and nothing has been in service since. Thanks. It can't be good for them to sit around in the depot for long periods though. Unless they've been running out of service on "training trips."

5094+5103 Also 5189+5118 is out on 712 Wow I know I haven't posted for a bit but this forum always amazes me for how quickly the news is posted. Indeed 711 and 712 were out and about this afternoon with the units posted, was looking forward to breaking this news myself ;D I have been informed that each of the four spare A stock units will be doing a 'run-as-required' path (those in the 7## series), twice a week, to keep motors, compressors and other equipment running ok, so eight A stock trips over the course of a week. I'm not sure how long this will continue for but I'd say there's going to be at least one running until the end of September (when it is to be used on the railtour on the 29th) www.ltmuseum.co.uk/friends/whats-new/eventsI have been told this event will also be linked in with the 50th anniversary of Rickmansworth train crew depot (which I thought opened in 1961 - but hey)........

So can we expect these A stock trains to make an appearance in passenger service after the Olympics?

The Met won't be the same without the A stock. i remember going on it in 1962 when it was new; worked on it for a short period in 1973-74 and had a couple of trips about 15 years ago.
Just think, that stock's been around for about a third of the time the Met has been in existence. I really must get to London for a final trip on one.

The last day for passenger service is the 26 September 2012. Is this official? and why a mid-week day i.e. Wednesday? I would have thought it'd be a Friday or Sunday? There seems to have been so many rumours and suggested possible last days posted to this forum, so is it definitely 26. September please? Many thanks for any confirmed info. Best Wishes Green Lion.

With the A60 Stock Rail Tour supposedly happenning on Sat 29th September, perhaps this last unit is being withdrawn a couple of days early so it can have a proper wash & smarten-up in the depot for the final hurrah? .............well, here's hoping ! ;D

What, you mean like the "Chesham Shuttle" unit was? Oh look a gold medal for Team GB in porcine aviation.
