5034+5231 was one of them. I saw this formation departing Baker Street platform 3 for Aldgate yesterday (Sunday 24/06/12) at about 18.30. A fabulous sound and one which is soon to become history. I think we can be virtually certain that this weekend was the last one of A stock operation on the Met. The consensus seems to be that all A Stock operations (apart from hot spare rungs when an S Stock fails) are finishing this Friday (29/06/12), but I haven't seen any official confirmation of this. Does anyone have any definitive info please? Best Wishes to all Green Lion.

Hi all!
From the full list of yesterday's PM allocations kindly posted by bentley67502000, it would appear as if A stocks are already only being used on peak services. Although I'm not overly familiar with the train numbers, there didn't seem to be any of the remaining As on all day circuits. Certainly all the daytime Chesham and Amersham runs were all S Stock.
Please would someone correct me if I'm wrong; am planning a last trip to London on Friday daytime, but seems like I'll be waiting until the peak before one of the few remaining As appears. Luck of the draw I guess.
Best Wishes to all
Green Lion.

The current OFF-PEAK numbering is as follows: 401-406 Chesham - Aldgate 411-416 Amersham – Aldgate 421-431 Uxbridge - Aldgate 441-456 Uxbridge/Watford - Baker Street 457 Watford changeover train 460-461 Rickmansworth changeover trains (weekends) 461-477 Neasden Depot interpeak stablers (Mon-Fri) On Monday T406 was an A Stock. Yesterday T423 is an all-day UXB-ALD working, T441, T445, T450, T453 are all-day UXB/WAT-BKr workings. T473/T474 were the only peak-hour only trains yesterday.

i was out on the Met between 1pm and 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 26th), and on my travels saw that 441, 445, 450 and 453 were all by A-Stock, definitely running during off peak hours.

If someone could confirm whether there are any out tomorrow, I'd be really grateful. I'm at the tennis at Wimbledon tomorrow but I'll try to get out on Sunday (though looking at where the closures are it's not going to be easy to get anywhere near the north end. Pity.)

Change on T466 this evening: 5062+5119.
In addition to T463 (see picture above from antje) and T466, A Stock forms four other trains this evening.

If my figures are right, that makes 6 out of 6, or 100% A Stock availability now that the other train has reached Northwood. Can't be bad

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 5098 now just a pile of mixed metals?

Unless there's been a formation change, 5090 was certainly with 5060 about a week ago, so I assume it still is.

Sorry if I've missed something on the other lengthy thread, but I've got different info from different sources, including some (clearly inaccurate) reports that last Friday was the last day of A stock in passenger service.
Am I right in thinking that the A stock will be around on peak hour only diagrams for the next week or two? (or is there a definite end date?)
Are they on specific lines / diagrams, or will the allocations vary from one day to the next?

I wrote to London Underground asking whether last Friday was indeed the final day in 'normal' service when the rumour reached me in the middle of last week. This is the response I received today:
Thank you for contacting us about the A Stock Metropolitan Line Train service. I appreciate that this is a momentum occasion, when a train that has been in service 50 years is about to be rolled back, to make way for a newer style train; the last of the Cravens stock that is still being used to this day. I have spoken to the Performance Manager (Trains) Dave White and he has informed me that the last journey of the A Stock will be on 29 September 2012. The plan is to keep 4 trains running until the first week of September and then reduce the trains once a week, eventually leaving 1 train for the final week of September.
Hope this helps
