No move tomorrow now, as no S8 arrived this morning.

was fortunate enough to travel on an a stock from baker street to eastcote. the best part was the fact that between finchley road and wembley park, the train was definitely going above 60mph close to 70mph, it was so quick and such a shame they rarely go that quick now. The ride however was awful but still very fun! Why cant the s stock run this fast in service when the a stock still clearly can! surely not an upgrade!

It is unlikey the train was travelling over 60, you would have been out of the window or hit the platform at Neasden! The A stock is limited to 50mph because the track is rubbish and the suspension isn't much better. Years (and I mean years) ago now cracks started to appear (again!) in the bogies and it was decided as the track was in poor condition and the Stock was 40 years old they should be limited. The S stock of course will never reach the heady heights of 70mph as the A stock did but they are expected to reach 62mph which isn't bad! Take nothing away, the A stock at speed is like riding a wild animal! There is nothing like it! Wonderful

ahh i should have explained, it was going very very fast but slowed down ALOT just before neasden so that would make sense, None the less i am still convinced that before neasden it must have at least reached 60mph!

I have a bad feeling that the AVI train will complete its duties and then form 717!

Ah good. Well I guess we'll have to wait and seen. Were any of them not present in the PM rush hour?

Oh, well perhaps nothing is going Monday (or that's wishful thinking!) As we know, normal practice is to prepare Monday's scrap train the Friday before so lets hope you're right!

It looks like an A8 was withdrawn last night. Passing Neasden Depot earlier, I noticed there was an A Stock on 25Rd which is often the road they prepare a train on for scrapping.
I didn't observe the following in service or in WPS today: 5016+5169, 5024+5118, 5034+5231 and 5098+5106

Thanks for the info again Undergrounddriver.
This development is very likely to mean that the last all A62 formation will operate in passenger service tomorrow, quite possibly just during the am peak. 5134+5161 currently resides in Wembley Park Sidings.

Only work commitments tomorrow stop me from looking for a last ride on an 8-car all-62 stock.

Wednesday's withdrawal represents:- The last A end A62. The last non-bead A62 No more opportunity for all-A62 formation.

Hi all!
Have they forgotten about 5160-5161? This was due for withdrawal last Monday (14/05/12), but was substituted by 5092-5093 which had suffered some kind of failure.
Presumably the units going this week are all in worse condition than 5160-5161? or is it the fact that they didn't want to withdraw and scrap the last ever 8-car A62 train all at once?
The end of the A Stock is drawing ever closer! :-(((
Best wishes to all
Green Lion.
