Realistically, when do people think the last A stock will run? At the current delivery rate of S Stock, I'm thinking around April / May next year.

Sad to see 5177 go. By the way, why was 5058 scrapped in August? It was a double ended unit as well!

Not that it makes much difference, but I would have posted just after my last post (but our internet went down at work) but 5177's revenue earning life will now end slightly earlier. It ended up on 413 and will stable around 0045.

I have thought 5177 has been on borrowed time for a while now. It was one of the three units (the others being 5046 and 5225) that never received an exterior clean during the programme to smarten the external appearance of the fleet up back in the spring.

How many serviceable A stock trains are there left now?

I think (x) amount of double end A60 stock may need to be kept behind as contingency units, until ATO goes out.

I am aware that it would be impractical, from an operational and a PR point of view, but this week S Stocks appear to have been dropping out left, right, and centre.

There are a lot of politics involved I'm afraid. And targets i.e. get the Met totally equipped with new trains by a certain date. Whether they work or not is irrelevant!

Whilst not knowing why im being held at Harrow because 21019's PA has become glitchy... You answered your own question. A defective PA means the train will go out of service. You were more than likely being held whilst it was fixed (or, if you got turfed off, then it probably wasn't).

Turns out it was because a driver taking over was late because his train was cancelled. The PA worked fine when the new driver took over for some reason

@redsetter.
Thanks - I was enquiring as I was off work today so took a trip down to the station to see the Scrap transfer.
T717 passed Northwood N/Bound at around 12.35pm today. It arrived back SouthBound for transfer into the sidings around 25 minutes later.
I have some images captured which I have uploaded & will place on the images thread separately.

I don't often take the Met as I live in south London, but did take a trip up to Wembley this weekend gone. Was nice to travel on an A Stock one last time. While a very good train, it did feel dated. The bouncing kept knocking me into the passenger beside me and visa versa. But the seats were comfortable. A good servant of LU and London over the last 50 years I think! Now I just need to look forward to taking my first S Stock. PS came back on the Jub from Neasden and the service was really good and efficient. Can't wait til the Met has it's new signalling.

Have just boarded a southbound train at Northwood heading to Baker St. (Riding in 5128 ;D).
Only 5177 & 6177 remain of this week's T717. Looking very sad in the rain & on their last night on LUL rails.
They've been pulled right up to the loading ramp & are ready to go tomorrow no doubt.
