Farewell my summer love...5201 Thank you very much for the advice undergrounddriver. 5124+5201 it is then on Monday. 5201 can only have been withdrawn in the last 24 hours as it was involved in a formation change midweek.

I've just passed 5125 heading southbound on an Alleleys lorry on the M3 at Winchester in the last few moments.
Unfortunately too quick to get a picture - I'd just filtered onto the motorway heading Northbound...

Yes, it was at the north end and will last a day longer or so.
Will rail moves start in Novemeber?

My understanding is that we can expect a weekly S8 arrival / A stock departure throughout Oct and Nov with the current arrangements continuing to apply. It will be interesting to see what happens concerning the timing of the scrap move from Neasden to Northwood (assuming rail movements out don't start in Dec) from the commencement of WTT331 on 11/12/11 as finding a path on the local lines north of Harrow won't be quite so easy!

I'm currently tasked with looking at all things local-line related in terms of running additional trains from the December timetable. It's more from the "What do we do with the Uxbridge service if it cannot go to Uxbridge during disruption" angle. There is "room" but not much, and given the scrap trains can run with drivers at each end, and are empty stock, it's not so difficult to fit them in.
Would be nice to keep the moves in a way, then at least everyone can keep check on what is being taken away. If the moves become fully rail, then no doubt each train will slip away in the dead of night.

the road conditions in the winter will no doubt disrupt any movements by road also,if one of those lorries ran into difficulties the disruption would be immense.

Is this wishful thinking, some sort of veiled threat to use the weather to disrupt things, or merely an innocent observation They won't get halfway up the road, give up and decide to put the A-stock back on the track you know

On the sheet today is 5187 to be returned to be stripped and scrapped. It's currently spending its last hours running as 411.
(If sufficient donations are made to my account, I may be able to arrange a reprieve by changing it onto an Uxbridge stabler ;D ;D )

Can't believe the speed with which they've been departing. Anyway, thank you kindly for the advice MetControl re 5187. That's one half of Monday's equation sorted. Rather than a changeover with an S8 as has been suggested, how about a changeover with a C Stock train at Aldgate? Less chance of anyone noticing given the outside state a few of the C stock units are now in?!

;D I managed (actually more by chance I will be honest**) to get the unit on to a Rickmansworth stabler. However, the keen depot staff noticed, and talked us into arranging a further changeover. Alas, unless the colleague who relieved me suddenly develops feelings for the A-stock (unlikely - and he's not a visitor here) the unit will end up back at Neasden this evening. I am now away from the railway, so I'm afraid I can do no more.
**The unit was swapped with, of all things, an S-stock which was required back in depot earlier this evening. So just for a while there, an S-stock was almost responsible for reprieving its predecessor ;D

187 is in service 32 is being stripped. 5187+5046 was in the north shunting neck as I passed about 8am. Presumably, 5046 was being uncoupled and 5187 would then enter the shed and similarly be stripped over the next two days. Thank you for the advice concerning 5032.

If 5187 is in service today, then maybe it has had a reprieve. As I said yesterday it was down to be "stopped" in the depot from yesterday evening. Clearly if it is out and about then this has not happened, so maybe another unit has taken its place.

5032 was stripped of parts today, and will form the north end unit for the scrap run.

Whats on the other end?

5032 was stripped of parts today, and will form the north end unit for the scrap run. Re my report earlier today, 5187 was at the north end when I observed it shunting at the north end of the depot. Therefore , it will (if it hasn't already), have to be turned.

So, realistically, that turning move will have to happen tomorrow - and on previous weeks it would have happened by today (the previous Thursday.)
Leads me to think that, as I said earlier, this unit has gained a reprieve.
