Which unit is formed with 5132-6133-5133? Can it run ok? Will it have to be dragged? Pushed into the siding? The unit you mention should still have 6132, and, as I said above, is not down as one of the units heading to Northwood on 4th July.

Please, whatever is done, don't send 5130 away yet, there are far worse units.

Grand! Funnily enough, my school ID was 5130, but I finished on 28th June, so (in a rather odd way), a 5130 is currently withdrawn having finished it's last science exam. 5130 still with 5161?

The next ones to go are 5207, and 5132. The latter of which is the seven car. Minus car 6132. Please see my post in the formation thread. I mentioned that 5207 was still in service on Wed formed up with 5088. The latter unit is now formed up with 5155 so that may well be it for 5207. My bets on the next withdrawals would have been from the list of those single ended units that have not received an exterior clean in the last few months. Neither 5132 or 5207 came into that category. The units concerned are 020/030/042/046/050/072/086/128/153/177/183/199/217/221/225.

Why was there a photo of 6132 formed into 5110-11 then?
Is the trailer back in its unit again?

Why was there a photo of 6132 formed into 5110-11 then? Is the trailer back in its unit again? Based on panniertank's report, 6132 is to become a permanent sandite car formed up into 5110/11 and so providing an additional RAT train. The remaining three cars in 5132/33 go for scrap this Monday and 5110/11 is permanently withdrawn from passenger train duties.

Just to note this scrap run will proceed to Watford first, then reverse, back down on the south, and straight into Northwood sidings. This has been done to avoid similar problems that caused trouble last time.

Where are these to be scrapped Booths, Eastleigh, or DSM? It sparked a debate, in which we all took a leave of our senses, myself included. Are we sure about which other unit may be on it's way? May well be 5207, or others like 5020.

If 5132 is to go to northwood as a 3 car how will this work?
The best option would be to move both 5110 and 5132 to Acton, and send the 3 spare cars from there!

If 5132 is to go to northwood as a 3 car how will this work? I think we will find that T717 on Monday is formed of 5132+6133+5133+5206+6206+6207+5207

I'll have to get my operating manual out but I'm not sure A stock can run as a 3 car unit. Each trailer feeds its adjacent DM unless.....

....5132/3 may have either an overactive compressor, or just a bit poney at braking, or as you said, inoperable. Option 2 or 3 seem realistic.

Ok, let's clear a few things up before Mr Panniertank blows a blood vessel in his over-active imagination.
The units "booked" to be taking their last trip to Northwood are...
5056 and 5020
In the event that something more serious has occured to another unit, then the formation may be changed.
The trip will run via Watford because quite simply it makes sense in terms of running the Watford passenger service. The train enters an engineering possession when it proceeds into the siding. There is a delay whilst this procedure is carried out, and rather than shutting both roads down, it will now only affect the southbound - although as the train follows a service train and the next one is 10 minutes away, it shouldn't affect even that.
The train will run as 7 cars. It won't be split at any point. It is perfectly able to run as this formation.

5056/7? Erm, best tell metman sooner rather than later.... I can understand that 5020/1 is struggling, but was it just happening that 5056/7 was available to be scrapped, or some other citerion it met?

I have an urgent appeal from Metman. He is out on the MET today and had the shock of seeing 5057 out too. Bearing in mind that it won't be able to get back to Neasden tonight due to engineering work will it still bite the dust tomorrow? It is currently out with 5040. I'll text him the second I get an answer. Thanks folks.

I have to say that I have somewhat struggled with the suggestion from MetControl that it would be 5020 and 5056 off for scrap tomorrow. Both have been in regular service all week (5020 formed up with 5168 and 5056 formed up with 5040, as Glyn has pointed out). I was particularly surprised at the possibility of the loss of another doubled ended unit so soon given the recent loss of 5066, 5110 and 5234. If T717 tomorrow is definitely formed up of 7 cars tomorrow, one of the units in the formation (well the remainder that is) must be 5132 and I remain convinced that the other unit is 5207. Having said all this, MetControl was obviously party to information indicating 5020 and 5056. Anyway, we'll know either way tomorrow.

Yes all very interesting, and as graeme186 says, I was party to some information, but in light of the engineering works and the fact that the train was out today, it seems unlikely it will be going. Of course, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that it works the morning peak and then goes to Northwood. It could be that the key behind this unit being chosen is a particular exam or repair being due tomorrow. Not all of the scrappings will be trains on their last legs. It could also be that the unit ended up north of Harrow this weekend, despite being requested by the depot on Friday. This can happen, and given the few service issues we had Friday, it would not surprise me if it slipped through the net. Best ignore my so-called reliable (official) information and wait and see... Sorry chaps.

Oh my! 5130 could be chosen, please don't say it will be. Which units do we reckon (aside from 5132 or 5207) may go, i.e. on last legs?

T'would appear then that the chances of 5057 making it's 50th in December are a tad remote?

I'd have thought we'd have known shortly for defiinite which trains were going as I thought the train is booked to run to Northwood round about now isn't it?

7-car 5207 - 5132 duly made the one-way journey from Neasden depot to Northwood siding via Watford today as Set 717.
