Can C Stock go to Olympia ? Not so long ago it provided the entire service, as an Edgware Road - Olympia shuttle

According to Modern railways magazine S stock delivery to London has been temporarily halted due to reliablity issues. So some trains are going to get some modifications this shows Bombardiers reliablity is poor . However the modern railways magaizine says it will not inpact the SSR upgrade delivery programme.

Surely it will as all of the S Stock are built in the same way aren't they so they'll all need modification?

My guess this was edited/formulated before the delivery of 21033/21034 last week?

I'm pretty sure the source would have been the Commissioner's report to the December TfL Board meeting which was posted on the TfL web site

Is there a particular reason why 4 class 20 locos are used per S stock delivery? It doesn't appear to be particularly environmentally friendly.

Is there a particular reason why 4 class 20 locos are used per S stock delivery? Something tells me that I've read that it's to do with the breaking forces required to stop the S-Stock... Not always delivered with 4 Class 20s either - sometimes they've been delivered with a Class 20, 2 Yellow Trailers at either end: www.flickr.com/photos/csogilvie/5983055992/in/photostream

Didn't one class 20 break down at Risboro' some time back so having 4 makes sure the whole lot get to Neasden. I'm sure brake force is important too.

As 100andthirty says, the piece in Modern Railways was based on Peter Hendy's report to the TfL board on 7th December and conversations with various people who said little and admitted nothing. The piece itself tells the story of how the evidence was put together.
The magazine went to press the day 33/34 was delivered. An email was sent to update it but it was too late.
As for the delivery programme, they say they want to have an all-S Stock service in time for the Olympics. This will involve a serious ramping up of the programme and concentration of minds to get stuff working properly. Overtime anyone?
And I expect they will have to ask NR for extra paths.

Just to report that currently two class 20's are working 6M11 on the MML doing West Ruisilp LUL depot GBRF to Derby Adtranz Litchurch Lane, arrival at 1813.
** EDIT**
The next booked workings is on the 17/01 with a 0933 to Old Dalby and a 1550 to Amersham path (this seems to be a general path).
