Many thanks. I was under the inpression these were 2 units semi-permanently coupled together. An S8 train is a single 8 car unit, the whole thing is semi-permanently coupled. Similarly, S7 trains will be a single 7 car unit.

Out of interest, what is the 2nd S stock now available for passenger service, I know unuts 21003+21004 are out. 21011+21012 were the M1 cars +4 that went to Berlin.

My friend, who commutes on the Watford branch, tweeted excitedly that she was on one of the S stocks this morning. I was jealous!

How's the T/Op training on the S stocks now? All S stock training cancelled until the new year - at Ricky anyway.

All S stock training cancelled until the new year - at Ricky anyway. Mostly - although the use of 2 S-stocks per peak is being utilised (where I/Ops and T/Ops are available) to train available drivers (of cancelled trains) even if that is only as far as familiarising with the cab.

London Reconnections says the four are being stabled in Rickmansworth sidings. Are they there now, or to be stabled there?

It also says there are 6 trains here too! Is this correct? I thought the pre-production trains (trains 57 and 58) are still here!

I'm not sure where London Reconnections are getting their info from but they need to find a better source! S Stock is not routinely stabled anywhere other than at Neasden depot at the moment. All siding space at Rickmansworth is utilised for stabling of A Stock each night. I doubt we'll see regular stabling of S Stock at Ricky (or Uxbridge, Watford etc for that matter) until there's quite a few more of them around. I'm open to correction but I think there are three trains currently in London, those being one of the two pre-production trains (the other having returned to Derby), and two production trains.

S-stock stabling at anywhere other than Neasden won't be until well into their introduction into service - at a point where they begin to out-number the A-stock.
On a separate note, and given the test runs are no longer that secretive anymore (in fact we are being encouraged to get people on them). At least 1 stock will be out and about for most of the day from now on, together with a 2nd one joining it during the peaks - normally covering any gaps left by cancellled Met trains.
Test running (running out of service) to Amersham is now also becoming a little more regular. Yesterday evening saw an empty run to Amersham and back

[cynic=on]Probably beacuse they've realised that the 'New Trains in Service' message that was put out a few months ago isn't really accurate unless people can actually use them[/cynic=off] However, this is good to see... although why can't it run to Uxbridge since that's the bit of the network I often use

What steps are being taken to ensure that the shiny new trains aren't immediately defaced by the pathetic band of immature, inadequate w*****s who delight in scrawling all over the bodywork and scratching all the windows?
Edit by Colin: Whilst I do appreciate the strength of feeling you are conveying in your post, I have edited your fully spelled out swear word as we can't be having that sort of language!!

The 92ts is no exception.

We all hate to see it but I suspect the people who know the answer to your question will not want to give too many security details away as vandals have internet too. CCTV should help with the window scratching problem and I understand that these have vandal proof paint, maybe that is an enamel coating that does not allow bonding of spray paints and makes it easier to wash off, something along those lines.

W***** is a pejorative term of English origin, common in Commonwealth and ex-Commonwealth countries, including Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. It initially referred to an onanist but has since become a general insult, used more in a way suggesting the target is an idiot or moron W***** has similar meanings and overtones to American pejoratives like jerk.

However, this is good to see... although why can't it run to Uxbridge since that's the bit of the network I often use Soon. Not very very soon, but soon. Rome, as they say, was not built in a day. The branch has to be made ready and tested with the stock before it enters service. Some of this has been done, but remember that the testing and work has to be threaded in between other works and cannot at present be done whilst the service is operating during the day. Another S stock is due VERY soon, (within 24 hours) most handy for the one part of the line it can run on with passengers on board, wembley Watford shuttles trains!! Despite your underlying pessimism, I congratulate you deadmans for spotting that for the past week the 2 S-stocks have proved very useful in covering service intervals. It has enabled us to use the A-stock on the other branches. Another part of the line isn't that far off from being cleared for passenger service, but until then, serving all stations between Wembley and Watford is a third of our business so it's not all doom and gloom ;D

Ultimately the language we choose to bar is common sense. One section of our rules/guidelines discourages the use of such words as that outlined above.
Can it also be noted that there is a team of administrators and moderators, and as such it's our job to pull these things up, and not that of others..... There is a report post facility, use that and leave the rest to us.
Thanks.

This sort of thing used to annoy me. It doesn't anymore as I realised I quite looked forward to yet another moan-up. It's a bit like waiting for Private Frazer's monologues in Dad's Army, usually featuring the word "doomed". High quality comedy in an old fashioned sort of way, utterly harmless and good value for money. Hope the testing and roll out continues apace, safe, and when it's ready, not before.

I thought I'd left a broad enough hint in my posts earlier about empty test runs and the fact that Uxbridge was soon, but not very very soon ;D Oh well. Try this. Amersham. ;D ;D
