My long term memory is that when the Met service to Uxbridge ran every 15 mins in the off peak, there were two Picc terminators at Rayners Lane for every Met. That would have meant a terminating Picc every 7.5 mins at Rayners Lane back in the 70's. Is my memory warped?

Yesterday, a sad day summed up by the weather. I think it will regretted in time that one set was not retained for heritage use. Costs and new technology I feel sure could have resolved. An important piece of 'Metroland' passes into history.

If Asbestos issues could be clarified what would the approx cost be to purchase a 4-car A60? If that hurdle could be overcome the next question is where it could be kept. I ask the question as this is now the final chance to save what i think is one of the best trains to ever serve the London Underground. Future operation will not be easy but perhaps something could be set up on the lines of the Cravens 60 Stock unit. In the years to come the complete demise (apart from 5034) will i think be regretted. With talk of Q Stock possibly being able to run again it should not be an impossibity to achieve this. Could a Trust or similar group be set up with this aim?

Was around the Eastcote area towards dusk yesterday afternoon. No sign of the A Stock RAT but the 3 car 73 Stock headed eastbound roughly in the timings scheduled for the A Stock. Was it just on Picc duties? Noted not many leaves left on the trees!!

The A60 RAT seen at Uxbridge just before 16h30 this afternoon pretty close to its booked timing. Will post a photo when I can download from the camera as in mid Solent at the moment! Great to see an A Stock out once more.

Will be great to see it running once more. I missed it last year, by minutes on one very gloomy occasion.

They seem to have been there forever, certainly around when I used HOTH going to school in the late 1960's. Anyone one know roughly when they were installed?

Was actually around midday. Had to drive family back to an offshore island of the South Coast of England leaving Eastcote around 13h30. The foggy damp conditions alone probably merited it being done again today.

I got to the Met Line later than intended today thanks to Southern. It looked like the Uxbridge line had received sandite although that may of course be left over from yesterday. The leaf fall timetable does not seem to show the RAT going to Uxbridge on a Saturday but I could of course be wrong there.
It would be a wonderful thing if one of the remaining A Stock trains could be retained for some heritage runs. The opportunity currently exists, it would be a dreadful shame if scrapping took place.

I am heading to the Uxbridge branch tomorrow and was going to ask if the A Stock RAT still running. Reading the previous posts can anyone confirm if definately finished today and prospects of still being at Watford tomorrow am?

The ERU have done de-icing but never known them to lay sandite. The A stock is cleared east of Rayners Lane on the Picc but 10mph under some of the bridges. The only sub surface stock to be banned on that branch is the S stock due to issues with the signalling west of North Ealing. If S Stock is banned beyond North Ealing what will be the consequence of a wrong signal being accepted onto the Picc Line from an Ealing Bdwy bound train

It was caused by Met No. 1 on its last northbound trip to Chesham this afternoon. I was on the following 'S' stock train which stopped to allow a member of staff to disembark to assess. Later on more personel were in attendance having I believe walked from Chalfont.

It could be used as part of the semi regular special events on the Met line as 'Sarah Siddons' has done over the past two decades. The Cravens society might well be interested in such a venture having some years of experience with their 1960 heritage unit.

I cannot help but think of the cost of this exercise. Why were these vehicles not disposed of with the rest of the fleet when withdrawn.

In the January issue of Railway Magazine mention was made of steam running between Watford and Chesham on one of the last two weekends of July. The other weekend hinted of steam on the District I think between Ealing Broadway and High St. Ken. I have heard no more about this. Is it happening?

Would I be correct in thinking that the 1960 Stock train is owned by the Cravens Group? If that is so and bearing in mind that the A60's were built at Cravens in Sheffield would this group have any plans to add one of the 4-Car A Stocks to its operation?
It would be a great shame to miss the opportunity to keep one of these sets operational. It would provide additional interest to the 38 Stock train and 'Sarah Siddons' excursion held from time to time on the Met Line. In years to come I am sure we would regret that no attempt was made to keep one of these Underground icons running from time to time. The Rickmansworth Canal Festival in May 2013 was a great weekend with both 5110 and the 38 Stock running between Harrow and Amersham.
To take the discussion one stage further would anyone be interested in forming a group with the aim of keeping one of these units running. What would the potential costs be? What difficulties would need to be overcome i.e. secure storage, maintenance, certification to be able to operate and in the future with automatic signalling. Is anyone interested or are there already any groups interested in this.

Do we know their destination. Is it a scrapyard or storage location for further possible use?

Looking long term with both MH and TH no longer being used for reversing trains, will the plan be to extend all the reversers to Barking or terminate some short at West Ham or even extend some to Dagenham East?

Compared to a few years ago passengers are bombarded with information these days both from announcements and technology. I wonder if the ability to think for themselves and use basic common sence has been removed. I personally find continual announcements irritating and I tend to tune out and instead use my powers of observation (i.e. eyes) and years of travelling experience to find my way around, especially when things don't go quite to plan.

I always enjoyed the original viaduct approach to the original Island Gardens terminus. The subsequent link south to Lewisham very essential and useful though.

Another 'A' Stock tour would be welcome perhaps on the lines of the May 2013 runs between Harrow and Amersham.

Whatever the answer a most interesting photo. In fact two 59 Stock trains are seen so engineering works is probably the most likely answer. Someone had time to make up that Stanmore destination board so all must have been planned.

Could the photo be taken at the time of the Bakerloo / Jubilee seperation? From memory I do not recall 59 Stock running on the Jubilee and note the temporary Stanmore plate displayed. I thought that it was a 72 mkII and 38 Stock mix at the time of the seperation, the 59 Stock transferring to the Bakerloo Line afterwards.

I remember taking photos of C Stock running between Upminster and Barking in the late 70's on District Line crew training runs. This was prior to their use on the Edgware Rd - Wimbledon service when the C 77's were new.

Have the last remaining 'C' Stock trains been disposed of as yet. This would include the tour train of 29th June and also the spare set?

Transfer Liverpool St - Shenfield to LOROL and the whole GE inner suburban service remains as one operator!
