Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that '38TS was fitted with high lift shoe gear, therefore it could not run under power through the central area. The shoe gear would have to have been removed at West Ruislip Depot and the unit would have been towed by a pair of battery loco's to Hainault Depot where the shoe gear would be refitted.

A hammer doesn’t help then 😂 Hammers ALWAYS help!!!!!!!!! (even in the Computer Network trade!) <Snip> Well that DOES bode well for when they extend the migration north, and the trains on the fast line pause in the middle of nowhere to perform the transition......Safely stationing assistance there might prove interesting.. A 2lb ball pein hammer is a standard issue in Technical Officers tool kit. Used to come in very handy to do a quick check on a tripcock tester in traffic hours.

Its a pity that additional Mk1 or even some Mk2 carriages could not be added to this train, as per Steam In The Met 2000. 2 class 20's plus a 4TC plus a Class 33 is only 4 meters (approx) shorter in length than a S8 unit

4-REP = Restaurant Electro-Pneumatic braked. Thanks so much for those. One I'd been wrong about, and one I'd wondered about ... for over 40 years. The life of a pedant is not always easy.
