Ok, its just that windows XP can be quite picky about what computer its on (It will only let you install it if your pc meets the minimum system requirements) Sorry Tom, but I'm going to disagree with you there. Microsoft states XP requires a 233MHz CPU, 128Mb RAM. I've installed it on an original Pentium-120 with 32Mb RAM. It was utterly useless, but it ran, nonetheless. As for the original problem, if Jim can get a hold of a windows 2000 CD, then he can boot from it as if he were starting setup, then choose the recovery console and restore the missing file from the 2000 CD. It's not a user-friendly process, but it's certainly a lot less hassle than having to reinstall.

Warren Street, Oval and Shepards Bush stations evacuated and lines suspended. Also something on a bus.
BBC 1's running News24 at the mo.
Apparently smoke was seen at Warren Street, but no casualties as yet.

Could the two members at the meet who were interested in creating some sort of chat facility please PM me?
DD/Q8 - lock this thread please? It's intended as more of a notice than a discussion... thanks!

*yaawwwnnn* So tired. Got home about 11:45, just enough time for a drink (the non alcoholic type) then on to bed. Had a good journey back - there were all of four people in the same carriage as me, so I didn't need to upgrade to First class to avoid the noise! I've stuck both cameras on charge, will take a look in the morning. Or very possibly, the afternoon. Should be some interesting stuff on there! It was great meeting everyone - hope y'all got home safely.

I might just have some spare time to waste riding around...

LOL! Yeah, that's me. I came up from Bournemouth just to lurk there for a while... it was real fun... until the nice policeman asked me to move on... Thanks for the welcome. I'm already building up a list of questions to bombard y'all with when I get home!

I thought I'd posted on here before, but apparently not. Some of you may have seen me on the Transport Forum, where my posts are few and far between. I'm mostly a lurker. I've been reading DD's site and previous forum for some time (linked from TubePrune), and have been lurking over on the Transport Forum also for some time. Anything else, just ask. In the mean time,, hello, and I'll be in the background somewhere, lurking.

Out of sheer curiosity, if someone wanted to buy an 83, either one car of, or an entire train, what kinda money would be involved?
Also, what's at Shoeburyness? If it's MOD, are they used for target practice, or cut up for scrap / squished with a big crusher, or ... ?

Ok. So there's a long running joke about District drivers going to South Harrow... how's about the other way? Picc drivers taking the l'il trains to Ealing Broadway? Ever happened?

On an impulse, I signed up on the TFL website for an Oyster card and stuck £15 on it as prepay.
It then occured to me that I have a Young Person's Railcard, I get all-zone tube day travelcard for £4.70, the same price as an off-peak zone 1-2 day travelcard.
Seeing as Oyster doesn't know I have a YP railcard, and I can't seem to find anywhere on the Oyster website where I can tell it I have said card, is there any way I can make sure I don't pay any more than the £4.70 I usually pay?
Thanks in advance...

I'm not much of a customer person. In fact, I've pretty much sworn not to work in a job that involves being in the front line with customers. So, watching "The Tube" (Sky Travel), it's just amazing to me how the SAs can deal with so much rubbish from customers.
For instance, one guy having a go at staff at Green Park because one of the "down" esculators was on while the station was being evacuated... I mean... what the hell?! Just get out of the station, stop being an idiot and stop wasting staff time, end of story!
Ugh. Can't stand people like that. I would get fired so quickly if I was an SA... *thump* SAs must be saints...!
