How much slippage time was caused by the pandemic? That will depend whether you are asking for direct impacts only (i.e. sites being shut down, etc) or also counting the indirect effects also (such as the supply chain issues), but in the latter case I suspect the answer will be almost all of it.

I'm struggling to understand why promoting a different part of the transport network (without highlighting any recent changes, forthcoming improvements, etc) would fall under Purdah rules, but this only applying to zones 1 and 2 is frankly bizarre.

That's a clever idea for a link that I hadn't thought of! You don't need to get that technical for this one though.

The link is unrelated to depots. Link they are all Terminus stations at the end of line - alphabetically - Abbey Wood would be the first station. You have part of the link, but not all of it. Abbey Wood is not the fifth in the set.

The link is not related to platforms. London Underground is relevant, but not in the manner brigham suggests.

The answer to your last question will depend why they are out of use and how much work is required to bring them back to operational condition. Trains that are stopped for a long time almost always get stripped of working parts to keep the units in service running.

There is a large, secure cycle parking facility about a minute's walk from the current entrance so I don't expect to see significant additional provision for cycling as part of this development.

Welcome to the forum. I've moved the thread to the Historical as that's where people who have the information you are looking for (not me, unfortunately) are most likely to see it.

Good thinking, but names aren't relevant to this link and Hatch End isn't the odd one out.

The background is not part of the link or odd one out (although it was chosen to match the link on this occasion)

Regarding the gateline. I suspect that the gateline at Leyton is as wide as it can be in its present location and that it's in the optimum location within the present building. Indeed short of demolishing the existing building I don't see that there is much that can be done beyond what is proposed and I don't see how you could demolish the entrance without an extended closure of the station.

Location A: (click for a larger version) I intended this station to be Edgware, and my photo is labelled "Edgware - platform 1 in December 2022" however on that trip I visited both Edgware and Stanmore stations and labelled at least one other photo of Stanmore as Edgware (and that one had a roundel clearly saying "Stanmore" in it!) so I've looked at other photos and I think you're right and my labelling is wrong (but I'm not 100% certain). The link works with Edgware but does not work with Stanmore.

Perhaps a mod could move this post to Station Related Matters where it might receive a bit more attention? Good thought. Done.

There is indeed form for not recognising your own photos! I've used all the photos of T4 you sent me, I have several of yours from Enfield Town and Tottenham Hale, and one each from Liverpool Street (XR) and Between Hackney Wick and Stratford.

As for "standards", there are those codified by an internationally-recognised body and those "because everyone (here) does it that way". Again, context is important. Exactly this. And that is where we should leave the discussion of units and standards for this thread

They should only be live when the train is in position but no system is perfect. I'm also struggling to understand the relevance of that - it is possible that an emergency could occur when the train is in the platform. Train-based staff probably should be in the platform at the same but may not be (especially if their welfare facilities at West Ealing), even if they are they may not be aware or may be the ones in need of emergency assistance. It is also possible that there is a need to remove the power when the train isn't in the platform - either due to malfunction or precaution (trespassers, debris). Especially as staff (and some passengers) who are familiar with third rail but not this system will assume the power is live at all times - indeed people are taught to assume power is live without proof that it isn't.

While GWR train staff and West Ealing platform staff will I presume have been given at least basic safety training with regards the new system the same cannot be said for other staff. It may actually be more of an issue for any staff who are third (or fourth) rail trained as (AIUI) the way to get power turned off on those networks is to make an emergency call to the signaller or line controller (who will make an emergency call to the power control room) rather than to turn the power off themselves locally.

Unless this would result in excessive loading (and thus delays) on the stopping service and/or overcrowding at Wembley.

In which case it's clearly metres. Not exactly an outstanding acheivement!! Like-for-like replacement of 468 metres of above-ground plain line track in three months would indeed not be outstanding. However that is almost certainly not what has been done. Much of the track replacement will have been in tunnels (which takes longer) and carried out during engineering hours (which gives you only a few hours each night). In at least some cases it wont have been a straight like-for-like replacement of the rails (as this seems unlikely to resolve the noise issue) but replacing the track fixings and/or track support too - both adding time and complexity. This will have been in addition to all the other regular maintenance carried out during the period, e.g. it likely doesn't include any track replaced for reasons other than noise. So while it probably isn't an "outstanding" achievement it almost certainly isn't a bad one either.
