Nothing much will happen on the Northern till the Jubilee is finished,I would imagine most of the project people will be the same and I think Thales has the resignalling contract for all three Tubelines lines.

Basically it's work to upgrade the signalling system so the line capacity goes from 24tph to 30tph.Hopefully with fingers & legs crossed it will all be over next year. Then they start on the Northern.

Far as I know none of the ATO kit is commissioned yet,if you see my posting about the Christmas shutdown on the Jubilee, this is to run test trains although whether it's 2 or 3 trains or a full blown test of the 30tph service we won't know till we see the EWSAs & engineering notices nearer the time.

Shed day,or daily overhaul as some depots call it,is when as well as checking shoegear, brake blocks and trucks all electrical circuit integrity is checked(by megger)motor, compressor & MA brushes checked for wear and changed if req,all moving electrical contacts cleaned or changed as req and greasing and lubrication. On older stocks it used to be every 9 weeks but this was extended to 18 weeks some years ago, from 67TS onwards it's every 36 weeks and I think for stock from 92TS onwards it's once a year.

If you're not aware the traffic Circular and Engineers Train Suppliment were published as one issue,it wasn't till the late 70's that it was split into Traffic Circular & Engineering Works and Safety Arrangements.

On the engineering notice tonight they're delivering a Tamping machine and Schoma with turbot wagons to Upminster Depot, the battery locos that bring them are going back at SOT Wednesday.Should be a sight to see 4 battery locos coupled together.

Think they're all long gone,by the time they were put on the Ongar shuttles they all had conventional cabs, one unit hung around at Hainault for a while after withdrawal as a drawing office for the articulated train project, another idea that came to nothing.
