Have there been any actual incidences with the rails going out of line, points machines jamming, or signal problems (attributed to heat)? I know of some in 'sidings' that were affected on Thursday...

Yep! If I didn't set the questions I wouldn't do very well at the quiz at all! Wasn’t it londonstuff that got his own photo wrong?

Does anyone know why the area between Ickenham Station and Austin Lane Roadbridge, on the London bound side, has had all the trees removed?

Maybe I should take that photo again... they seem to have removed all the trees from the right hand side of the photo now for some reason.

Personal view is that the Tube Map can have art on it, but ideally something that's related to the Underground. I have to say that I am definitely not a fan of the December 2018 one.

"Is West Ruislip further from the Picc/Met lines and closer to Ruislip?"
I'd say it's quicker to walk to Ickenham than it is to Ruislip from West Ruislip... but that may just be because I do that more!

I intend to be there... whether it will be for noon or not, I don't know! Unfortunately I will no longer make it to the event. 🙁

You can bail at Pimlico to get buses though, it’s reasonably well connected for that :-)

btw, what happened to the Chiltern Railways water jetter? (converted class 115 or class 117 DMU) Does it still still exist? I recall seeing it some years ago in the Rickmansworth area.
Not 100% sure... but I believe Chinnor Railway have various things that Chiltern have used for this in the past 977992 Ex Water Jetting Train Vehicle and W55024

How do you test a signalling system using trains without trains actually moving, other than to check that the information from the signalling system reaches the train?

I wonder if, originally, it was designed for "The Future" testing which has been cancelled as per this post?

I've had a very confusing email from TfL about Industrial Action today:
Subject: Strike on Piccadilly, Central and Hamersmith & City lines
"Planned strike action by ASLEF and RMT train operators could mean little or no service on Central and Waterloo & City lines on Wednesday 7 November, and no Piccadilly line service from the afternoon of 7 November for 24 hours"
They seem unable to decide which lines may be affected, but I suspect the body to be more accurate.

The body is a refurb but I’m not sure the power etc is as it’s brand new I thought?

Nope, the Yellow bit under the Window on the front has something on the left hand side. I don't have any means of uploading an image from here though to show what I mean!

I quite like the livery, but what's the random yellow thing in the middle of the door?

Paths available on the WCML? I thought the prime reason for HS2 was that there were no paths available on the WCML? I guess there’s the odd few freight paths that might be available but nothing to increase the frequency of passenger services... One thing that intrigues me though is that if these new units have done 1500 fault free miles, but haven’t been tested on 3rd Rail (I’m assuming they can use 3rd Rail or OLE??) then how can you claim that to be fault free - or is that specifically just around being able to actually move as a train does? Part of the problem, I suppose, is that lifts have worked this way for well over half a century and no one has ever said that you shouldn't use the sensitive edge to cause a lift to reopen its doors. I think you've hit the nail on the head for me with this statement... if one thing does it, people naturally assume everything like that will do the same.

The other reason for the service is to retain driver route knowledge when Chiltern services are diverted from Marylebone. Yet last time they all had a pilot with them between West Ruislip and Paddington.

well almost all of them will cause big damage to the railway if and when they fail as all trains in the given VCC area will need to be moved individually by the signallers....and only at 10mph. Ouch!! I'm going to assume you mean by the driver under the authority of the signaller? Your statement to me makes me imagine the signaller sitting with an old-fashioned Joystick moving trains

From observing S Stock going out of service at Barking staff press one of the door open/closed buttons for two or three seconds and that closes the all the doors on that car. Its the same as porter buttons. I have only ever seen the driver closing the doors on an S-Stock with their equivalent of Porter Buttons... never station staff.

I am proud that this forum attracts a wide variety of people of all sorts of different minorities. We are all united here in our joint interest in London's UndergrounD and nothing else really matters. 👍 To be honest, it shouldn’t matter people’s gender, sexuality etc if it’s all about the Undeground.

Not me, I was in the shop next door buying something to drink. Travelling Water? Your money is safe... that is me. From memory, we were photographing the TfL Rail trains.
