There's actually more 'wrong road' working than you might think. First thing in the morning some trains out of Beckton depot are non-stopping on the 'wrong' side to their start points, often overtaking scheduled services. During partial shutdowns it is not uncommon to run shuttle services up and down the same road. The exact pattern depending to an extent on the positioning of crossovers. Does confuse the hell out of passengers though.

Door enabling is an automatic operation once the train has stopped at the correct position, the PSA has no function in the opening of doors. I don't think there is any way with the current set up to delay enabling on one side. Also if only the right hand doors initially enabled you can bet that some folks would stand by the other doors until they enabled. Being a major tourist area, trying to get passengers to exit one particular way is nigh on impossible.

Oyster validators on the DLR all work the same way, so swiping out on the opposite platform would work fine. For the record, DLR are not responsible for the maintenance of the Validators, faults are reported to Tfls contractor. The TVMs are on-line to Poplar and should flag up faults automatically, but in practice don't always do so. I never told you this but...If you call DLR CS, when the answering machine cuts in hit * and you should be transferred to a real live person.

Just for the sake of correctness, the platform displays are PIDs, Daisies are the monitor based displays usually on concourses.
