pib gets the points for correctly identifying the station: Answer: Stepney Green - bridge over tracks [Chris M] (click for a larger version) No takers for the bonus or background though, but the following may help with the latter: (click for a larger version)

Well I was thinking Masthouse Terrace Pier ;D. Forgive my tired old eyes.... I thought..."That pier on the Isle of Dogs (you can see Greenwich in the background)" so I checked the name on Google Maps...

This is the south end of the Isle of Dogs, and it is Masthouse Terrace Pier in the background. However it's the foreground I'd like identified before points are awarded.

I've been off for a few days, but am back now (with added house) and feeling generous, so that'll do for me! Inset: Maritime Quay, Millwall - west of Masthouse Terrace Pier [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Still no takers on why Stepney Green for today though.

You're close, but it wasn't 1936.

That is the year what is now the H&C service began here, but that isn't why I chose this station for 23 June.

Going through the bonus questions, I found that I asked this same question on 23 June 2008. So no points to any of you (or me) for the memory test...
