I have included those 2 unique "auto shunts" on 19 and 20 roads. Thanks to Colin's treatise I now have the whole depot signalled correctly - thanks! I also have the WB-facing shunts from the EB platform roads in place and working. I doubt they'll be used too much but someone could have fun using them in an activity (we need an evil grin "smiley").
Testing it all last night I ran: ECMDTE - slow line - fast line - Pfm 3 - Siding 21 - fast line WB - siding 26 - fast line WB - slow line WB - Pfm 4 - ECMDTE reception - Stop board. Rusty rail move? ;D
I presume the Piccs would use siding 26 to turn short if there was a problem west of there? 22/23 likewise for the other direction? (Just thinking about Picc AI traffic for activities)

Perfect sir! You have fleshed out what (little) I already knew and anticipated follow-on questions ;D I'm going to print this out and tape it next to my monitor (much to my wife's bemusement I suspect). I have all the shunts/theaters in the virtual depot but did NOT know route 2 (Ealing end) went to the EB road! I had it going to 32 road. I will duly fix all. The Acton end I had right ;D
I owe you - many thanks!

I'm working on some activities (workings) for the virtual DL, to be included when I release the kit. One has the player bringing a D78 out of ECMDT and entering service. What would be the sequence of events (assuming train opened up) for the E and W exit roads? Does the shunter (or whomever) radio you to draw down the the exit road and wait? Does s/he then clear you onto the mainline? What would be typical phrases used? If I'm reading the WTT (131) correctly, a train leaving the W end would enter service at ECM (example, train 151 ex ECMDTW 06:30)?
Thanks in advance for any extra insight.

Greatly appreciated TOK! Yes, if possible I'd like a few shots of different 'displayed info' so as to create several animation frames. However, anything would be greatly appreciated! I'm currently working on Turnham Green and I can see there are describers in the photos I have, but they're buried in shadow. I don't have any photos of the describers at GUN.
Again, thanks - and no rush at all!
Best, Jimi

If anyone happens to be at either Gunnersbury and/or Turnham Green, I'd appreciate some pics of the train describers. Ideally a general shot showing construction and location; and 1 or 2 'head-on' showing the displays. If I had a couple of display shots I could likely animate the model to show multiple 'screens'. These are for the MSTS District Line project.
Thanks, Jimi

Thanks guys! Seth, those shots are excellent and I'll grab them if I may. I have spent hours trawling the web for material, but have not yet found any 'below the floor' stuff. Still looking....

Yet another MSTS stock project underway (Picc 73TS). We're all set for the cab (I have lots of pics of that). Looking for saloon shots (e.g. interior doors detail, car ends, etc.), also exterior shots of at/below the sole bar -- the 'gubbins underneath' (tehcnical term), also close up of the bogies, bits under the front, etc. The car bodies are built, and we're now looking to add detail to the 'lower parts' and interiors. Pointers to any photos or any that folks could share will be very welcome, and we'll be sure to credit your help when releasing the train.
Thanks in advance, Jimi

NutriGrain Hangers. Thanks very much Dr Jimi. sorry - I missed that bit. Don't apologize - it was easy to miss. I recalled it being mentioned in the prose, so quoted verbatim as I felt the subject was sufficiently unusual to be interesting to anyone who hadn't seen/read the article. My apologies to you if the style of my reply inadvertantly provoked your apology ;D

From the text acompanying the picture:
"The whole 1256+1187 train has for some while been kitted out with special strap-hangers which advertise NutriGrain cereal bars; a few had presumably been damaged and so the occasional plain grey one was to be found."
First time I've seen that done - didn't look 'right' somehow.

Interesting! I have only heard the "beep" and "Pshhhhht" stuff on videos. However, Q8's rendition of "Rumble...rumble...clunk" invoked many "audible memories" of when I was last on a LUL train (>25 yrs ago). I do recall R Stocks, COCPs, 59/62TS et al. "Clunk" - that's what a door closing should sound like! Now, who can articulate what an R Stock compressor sounded like? I can still hear it in my head, but "chunka-chunka-chunka" is as close as I can get.

Much appreciated! The old diagram is fascinating and I notice a lot of changes compared to today.

Wouldn't a "local-to-fast" (facing point?) crossover just west of 40 points add a lot of flexibility? A local could then gain the fast prior to the pfm and thus reverse in 26 siding and back to the EB local. Just out of curiosity, supposing pfm 4 (WB local) were blocked for some reason. Can a local service get to the fast line prior to ACT? (I don't have my charts to hand).

[question type=inevitable] Who's Joan Baez? [/question] Joan Chandos Baez. 1941- Folk singer and activist. If I had a hammer, I'd hammer on my first half, I'd hammer on my meal break, all over this line, I'd hammer all the tracks flat, I'd hammer all points straight, I'd hammer 'bout the love between The motormen and signalers, Alllllll, all over this line... *cough* sorry. Must have been something in my coffee
