the same reliability issues early on that the '92s faced! What do you mean by build quality issues?? I don't know, I am just as confused as you are mate! Because that's what is stated by Peter Hendy as the reason for another month's delay before entering service, in the London Reconnections article. It may mean that the trains were built on the cheap and are now already showing the affects (but hopefully I am wrong). May be someone with more knowledge on the Victoria Line Upgrade will be able to clarify this.

Interesting, thanks! Presumably, as they're letting it out in the daytime, the stock should be pretty reliable. I imagine it will be at least a couple of months before it (train 2) is used in passenger service, or will there be more stock or infrastructure changes necessary first?

This run is one round trip late at night but already rumours circulate that it might not happen, despite being listed in next week's Traffic Circular. Maybe some one on the line can confirm on Monday?

Sorry to go a bit off topic here. If I went to Victoria station tomorrow, got there around 10am, and stayed there until 3pm, would I see a new train?? I'm not actually going to do it - I would just like to know.

No because a) it's planned to run on 1st June and b) it's not scheduled to enter service until nearly 23:00!

Oh okay thanks. So do you mean it will run after 23:00 on the 1st of June?

Excellent news! If anyone does get a more precise time, please post it.
I was actually planning to use the Victoria line at around that time, so could certainly fix my schedule to catch a glimpse of this shiny new train.
I suppose 11pm is when it is supposed to leave the depot and arrive in seven sisters?

Oops! Sorry! ;-) Maybe "Not in service" on the online departure boards will spill the beans...

I'm afraid it's a case of finding your local friendly LU staff member with a copy of Traffic Circular 23 in which the departure time is stated. However with this sort of thing so often events are cancelled or amended at the last minute anyway.

to be honest, Im not sure if the train will actually run at the moment, because the unions are doing their nut!! as no train op has yet been trained to drive it and the engineers apparently only have a licence to drive on the public track out of hours, so we shall see!! :-p

If[/i] it happens tomorrow, is it due to be in passenger service, or will it be non-stopping?

So whos more likely to be driving it then? Engineers with an IOp also present?

Metronet (now LU again) Test Train Operators have been driving them manually during possessions when the line is shut but this would be under ATO.

I was under the impression that test train op (metronet) were not licenced to drive during traffic hours, and they wouldnt simply be able to put an iop on as they haven't had the training yet.

TTOs are licensed on all stocks, road trained on all lines and can operate trains in or out of traffic hours.

That may be true (I don't know), TTO can drive over the rest of LU, and in the case of the Vic Line in traffic hours are effectively just pushing two buttons, not "driving".

I suspect Saeybia is thinking of the rules on operation of Battery Loco's and other engineering trains by TubeLines ETOs which are restricted to Engineering Hours for operation on the Victoria Line.

Should add I wasn't damning Vic Line T/Ops as mere "button-pushers" but it seemed odd to hear people referring to "driving" 09TS in this forum. They will be driven to and from the depot and also have been in unrestricted manual during possessions.

It wasn't there! I checked before leaving my house, near Pimlico station, and at the scheduled time of just before 11pm on the tfl website, this appeared and I thought I was in luck. [a href=" "][/a] Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch[/url] But...nothing. Nada, nicht, niente, rien! I ended up staying from about 11 to 11.35 and it certainly hadn't been past by then. To add insult to injury, I'm pretty sure I got charged two lots of full £4 fares for exiting at the same station - gutted!
