Hi All, Only post here very occasionally but I'm always here in spirit! Anyway, I was on the 11.00 train from Golders Green today in coach D. What a fantastic trip. Some photos on my website at: homepage.ntlworld.com/i.bartlett/northern-lineWent down to the Dome (sorry, O2) afterwards and St Pancras, so a couple of photos of those have crept into the album as well towards the end. Congratulations to LU, the LT Museum and all others involved in organising this. And thanks to all in coach D; what a nice bunch you all are

Just thought - if anyone sees themself in my pics and doesn't want to be on the web, let me know and I'll remove the offending image(s).
Thanks again, and apologies for the more blurred images.

To the people who say they couldn't get tickets, I asked Pat Dennis [organiser] was the tour a sell out? Lots of tickets remained unsold, surprisingly!

It was brilliant day out, there was a Westinghouse stop at East Finchley (11:00 Train) as well i believe i could smell it nevertheless. I appear to be famous i have been snapped by several people.
Cheers, ~ Matloughe

I'm storming down the platform at Mill Hill East in the b+w image. Most of my pics were taken on film, I took just a few digitals. This is my favourite... It was a great day. Thanks to everyone involved. David

Didn't by any chance ask why they didn't sell them on the day did you, as I would of been on one without a 2nd thought if they did? Glad to hear it went well, and I really hope this is the first of many!

The organisers had more than enough to do on the day, without having to sell tickets.

WOW! What a day i had. Absolutely fantastic. Was at Golders to see the 11.00 off, then filmed at Mornington Crescent, East Finchley and the Northbound at Chalk Farm which was decidedly eerie as i was the only person on the platform for alot of the time including when the 38 came through blasting on the whistle. (must get myself a youtube account) Excellent. Got a nice shot of entering the pipe at East Finchley throught the M door. It was nice to meet up with Tubeboy and Compsci on the 14.30. Will such an event ever happen again with the advent of ATO on the Northern Line?

Will such an event ever happen again with the advent of ATO on the Northern Line? The new signalling will allow for unequipped trains to operate on the line, using either track circuits or axle counters for train detection. However, as trainstops will be removed, there will be no ATP in the 38TS (unless it is retrofitted which is very unlikely!). Thus it's probably down to:- - The rules about non-ATP operation (maybe non-ATP operation with two operators may be allowed) - Whether a slot will be available in the enhanced timetable (as the service frequency will be increased, and 95TS performance increased) - Other factors (such as infraco/LUL politics) On the Paris Metro night time railtours are done during engineering hours, allowing the vintage Sprague train to operate on all lines including the driverless Line 14. Maybe this might be an option for future railtours on the soon to be more automated LUL? At least the Bakerloo will remain conventionally signalled for some time, so as long as you want a railtour of the Bakerloo, you might be OK!

Was on the 1800 and loved the trip - it bought back a lot of 59 stock memories. Had a really good crowd on the car with me and it was a really good day.
Sadly though, my video plans went a bit wrong. I was watching the train (as train 567) on the Tracker before I left work and decided to get a vid of it at Kentish Town - what I didn't know was that a Australian group calling themselves 'The Church' descend on KT every Sunday - and there are thousands of them (Tubeboy will know what I'm on about) all drunk and screaming at the top of their voices, so my Kentish vid never happened...........................

I do indeed! 2500 drunks, sorry, paralytic! Stopping escalators, jumping onto the track, scum of the Earth most of them. Animals, the lot of them! SS should have turned the fire hydrant on them! How busy was the staff one? I done the two public runs, but was knackered, so went home after that.

"The Church" is an almost holy gathering for drunk antipodeans! It's the sort of the place you go to once, and never again! It used to be held at Bagleys in Kings X Goods Yard.

Going a bit off-topic, "The Church" is also known as the Kentish Town Forum.

How busy was the staff one? I done the two public runs, but was knackered, so went home after that. The staff one seemed to be doing good trade. I was in the second car (as leaving Golders) and there was only about 5 vacant seats, I think there were very few vacant seats in the other cars, DM's especially. A throughly enjoyable and atmospheric experience, which i hope will be repeated many more times on suitable parts of the system. ;D

Still the Jubilee Line may run at trip with the 4 car 1938 in September, its in the planning stage at this time

More photos will be added later - I was using film, so need to process it first.

I was on the 1800 staff trip. Front car at GG. I particularly enjoyed the confused look of the punters as we went south. I also liked the City & South London Railway hi-vi worn by the Northern Line support manager

Problem is: What happens when re-signalling kicks in. The 38TS will need to be ATP equipped to run....
