Am I the only London-based member who hasn't yet seen one of the new Victoria Line trains - except in pictures and videos?

There's a trick to this one.... go out looking for one and you won't find one. Travel on the line without thinking about it and one will show up!

Hopefully not the one that shuts its doors just as I dash onto the platform. Seems to happen to me a lot on the Vic.

I've not seen one in service, though I did get to see the first one a day or two after it was delivered, as I was at the depot for an Open Day for prospective drivers.

I commute on the Vic and on at least one per week of my outward/return journeys I have managed to catch an 09ts. Your best chance to catch one is in the peaks since then they have to run all the trains.

For geographical reasons I use the Vic quite a lot, though outside the peaks,I must say. However, the only 09s I've seen yet have been snoozing at the depot as I cycle to my allotment...

I saw one this evening, 5.15pm, Euston southbound. Set number 202, car 12021 and took a quick video of it going towards Pimlico[/u]. My thoughts since seeing it last time are: Forced air ventilation is still rubbish - it was insanely hot. I can see why Boris is going ahead (or not with the budget cuts) with the big fan things between tunnels The seats might have started to 'give' a little and we're *as* uncomfortable. The driver's announcements were inaudible regardless of speakers every metre or so - the sound was extremely muffled. Acceleration and top speed certainly didn't seem as quick. Whether they have actually been pegged back or it was just too close to the train in front as it was rush hour, I don't know. For those in the know, was this a pre-production train?

[/quote] The two pre production trains have both gone back for modification to standard. The train you saw was train 11. I agree that the ventilation and driver PA announcements are poor. In fact, they are no different than they were on the pre production trains. I thought the whole idea was to learn from the pre-production experience so that the production run trains have these faults addressed, In terms of "give" in the seats, train 11 has not been in service long, so I doubt if there would have been much "give" on that one!

I don't use the Vic a lot, but I have seen one: well, a bit of one: just a glimpse through a cross-passage at Oxford Circus when I was on the Bakerloo last week

@londonstuff - forced air ventilation (in my opinion) was only designed to make the train feel more airy (which it does). as for the general heat this will only improve slightly once all the 67ts have been banished to hell.
a seat is a seat, 90% of us couldn't care less as we don't get one in the peak. at least they don't use plastic seats!
some drivers don't speak very loudly or clearly, looking at the video from the first run of the 09ts the driver spoke very clearly and loudly, although the train was at a standstill i still reckon it would be loud enough for use whilst the train is in motion. looking at other videos some drivers just don't speak properly, clearly and loudly enough. speech therapy wouldn't go a miss for the offending drivers.
i guess the only facts we can highlight from the new trains (once all in service) is that there will be 33tph compared with the 27tph today and the ventilation making it slightly easier to breathe.

Regarding announcements, in my experience of existing stocks (I've not travelled on an 09 yet) the biggest variable regarding the audibility and intelligibility is the driver. On a couple of occasions I have left a formal comment through the TfL system about the standard of PAs given by drivers. One operator (I think on the Picc) was very difficult to understand, although the volume was fine. One Bakerloo Line t/op had exceptionally clear diction and whose announcements were to the point, timely and avoided waffle - he got a very positive comment. Given this, I'd be surprised if the same was not also true of the 09 stock.

I used one from Oxo to Euston, all I will say is it looked like someone had pumped up an 95/96ts. Horrible things.

I haven't seen one yet either. They really need to hurry up and introduce more, shouldn't there be about 20 in operation now?

The situation as of today is thus:
Trains 1 & 2 returned to Derby.
Trains 3-12 all delivered and all commissioned for passenger service. That's not to say that there are ten 2009s out there though!
It's the luck of the draw. Cross platform at Finsbury Park WB Picc to SB Vic at c.14.40 today and first train in was a 2009 - 11022-11021 (Train 11).

You can count me in as well. Still haven't ridden one yet, even though I've been in the vacinity of one twice. Both times at Highbury & Islington, but at those moments I was riding a Great Northern train. I actually waited at Green Park last night to see if I could catch one, but all trains were the old style and there was a signal failure between Sever Sisters and Walthamstow so I just gave up and switched to the Picc.

I travel Green Park to Euston and back every day as part of my commute and am now finding them rolling into the platforms quite regularly now.

Don't know what the maximum is they actually run, but 10 are commissioned for passenger service and nine 1967/72s have left NPD.

I think 7 2009 stock is the most that have run in service at any one time to date.

nine 1967/72s have left NPD. Does that include 3012 and 3077? Do you know which units have been withdrawn?

nine 1967/72s have left NPD. Does that include 3012 and 3077? Do you know which units have been withdrawn? As of end-June 2010, my records show 12 complete units have been sent from Acton Works to Booths, Rotherham: These are: 3008 3009 3012 3013 3017 3018 3025 3036 3038 3051 3064 3077 To that list presumably we can add 3001 and 3019. Also added are the 3 cars scrapped/sold pre-2010 - the original 3016, 4016 and 3184 (ex 3141). Of those cars gone, the following are ex-72 stock: 3101 (ex 3317) 4101 (ex 4317)

Horrible things. i got on one at victoria today i must agree did not think much of look i did like the fact you got more space though!!! when did they start using "Next Stop Euston, doors will open on the right side" is this new to the 09ts???. i like the idea of it for people who don't travel on the underground much. i also don't like where they put the light on the front its at eye level and they are very bright!!!! in your eyes

It was quite surprising seeing an 09TS roll into Highbury southbound just as the rear of the 67TS passed the starter!
I agree wholeheartedly about the driver PAs; the DVA is very clear but the PAs are muffled and horrible.

I'm going to ride the Victoria line for the first time in a couple of months so the chances of me getting an 09 is much higher than before.
There was report in the Evening Standard (yes, yes, I know, it's sensationalised and all that) of 09's jamming up in tunnels because people were leaning on the doors. Is this a frequent problem? Has it been resolved?

Contrary to the report in the Evening Standard, people leaning against the doors will not set off the sensitive edges, unless there is something wrong with the settings of that particular door. You can kick, lean, shoulder barge doors without triggering the sensitive edge.
The sensitive edges will trigger if a coat tail or bag strap is stuck in the seal, and this will stop the train from departing. They are working to the design intent, and are not over sensitive. As this is a new system to the underground, there is a lot of learning how this is handled operationally, which is resulting in most of the delays.
