So how come I heard the LU MD on the radio this morning apologising about faults on the trains?

Perhaps the LU MD does what Boris tells him to do

i got on one at victoria today i must agree did not think much of look i did like the fact you got more space though!!! when did they start using "Next Stop Euston, doors will open on the right side" is this new to the 09ts???. i like the idea of it for people who don't travel on the underground much. i also don't like where they put the light on the front its at eye level and they are very bright!!!! in your eyes Although it doesn't seem that much better than other trains, it is much better than the 67TS it replaces! More space, brighter and ventilation is improved. The front lights are much brighter. At least it gave me time to prepare my camera when I saw the tunnel lit up by them as the next train was clearly not going to be a 67

The recent problems have been due to trains loosing codes, (at least according to the service reports), so not sure why it's being blamed on doors.

Mostly, it is loss of ATC code, however these cause small delays, whilst the train is moved 1 station at most in RM to regain code and then carry on in Auto. Some of the longer delays, like the one at OXC on Monday were triggered by sensitive edge activation. This was the one that probably triggered the article in the Standard!

I knew there would be more to it. That's why it's good to come here to get the answers.
Still didn't see a damned new one today. Both ways not a peep.

A little harsh - most new stocks have problems when they are introduced, but I'd be disappointed if the 2009 stock ended up looking in a similar condition to the 1992 stock in 10 - 15 years time!

There is no chance of that happening...the 09ts will remain underground for all of its life minus the depot area. So there is no way of knowing how the bodyshell, paint etc would cope with weathering.

So there is no way of knowing how the bodyshell, paint etc would cope with weathering. I'm not so sure, you know... After all the stresses and strains of the frame moving around are going to be the same whether under or over the ground; the only real difference is that the UV exposure is far less (8 hours of continuous exposure under fluo tubes is approximately equal to a minute of full sunshine). Looking at the pictures posted recently of 67s leaving to the great depot in the sky: [acknowledgement given to prjb for it is his picture] Look at the pipe filth on the end - I would suggest that the Vic and Drain cars are indeed 'weathered' but by substances usually a fair bit nastier and pervasive than what it would get with outdoor running. After all these trains get a nice refreshing shower in the car wash virtually every day.

Just a thought interior-wise. They seem to be holding up well (even after just over a year since the first was running) - much better than the new Scania buses in which the floor was worn to hell 3 months after they put them in service! It's kind of unfair to compare the two (one is designed for much higher usage) but hopefully it's not going to be a quality fail like the 92ts.
The interior of those buses is much worse off now than of the 13 year old buses they replaced!

Went on the Vic from Warren St to Kings Cross St Pancras on Saturday and it was a 67.

I think train 4 has been in service for about 6 months - before that, it was only train 2 in service, and that has gone back to Derby for mods. You really would expect trains that have been in service for six months to hold up well! Even the 92 stock looked good then!

Finally saw one the other day. Was pretty busy so didn't get to ride it under the best of conditions. Definitely positive note on the lighting. Made the train very bright and the white interior certainly helped (no 92 beige thank you). The shape of the interior was weird though. It looks like they tried their best to max out the head room given the cramped conditions, but it just ended up with the weird nave type ceiling. One thing that was definitely odd was the poles. Some were Victoria line blue, but some were Piccadilly line blue (though my friend pointed out that Piccadilly line blue is also Underground blue so maybe it was a deliberate design decision).
