Once inside the tunnel, slow the train to 35 then look for the reflection of A655 on the left hand running rail. If it was red then apply the brakes, if it was green then back into full parallel to Earl's Court. (My bold) If a reflection is what was relied upon then it doesn't surprise me this signal was often passed at danger!

Before platform 0 was a thing, during the last rebuild of Leeds station there was a platform W for a period. Eventually all the platforms were renumbered and W became 1.

That other image that you've revealed is definitely not Holloway Road! Although when you click on it the completely different image that opens is what I presume really is of Holloway Road. Fixed

Ok, well then A is in fact the very similar Bow Church which suggests the link might be religious buildings. Therefore, I'll take a guess at Westminster for D. Close enough with that link for me, the card says "These are all locations named for places of worship. ". However D isn't Westminster (which in an area).

That bridge (the Grosvenor Bridge) carries no TfL services. I think it's the Cremorne Bridge (the one between Imperial Wharf and Clapham Junction) As for the inset, the colours suggest Midland Railway, so if it's not the Monsal trail, is it on the Bath-Bristol cycle path? Looks like Hadlow Road to me, which is a preserved disused station on the Wirral Way footpath between Hooton and West Kirby. Inset 1: Hadlow Road disused station, Wirral [ londonstuff] (click for a larger version) The line is a very pleasant walk these days, it was formerly a joint operation between the L&NWR and GWR.

AIUI all units still have a lamp iron so that in an emergency situation a tail lamp can be hung on them if the power/batteries fail. Mostly used when a dead train is being rescued.
Modern lamps are battery powered LED jobbies though.

Are you sure the pie charts will update live? I've just submitted a set of names and they're not showing on the pie chart yet. I think we have reached the limit at which the feed updates the pie charts without me manually adding the range for new options since every new option is likely to have been typed differently. If that is indeed the case, I will update the whole lot on Sunday when the survey closes. Still, I'm sure certain esteemed members will be flattered to learn that they have made the list...(My bold) I'm sure I don't know what you mean....

Just to confirm that the weekend transition tests are using nine car trains with Elizabeth line logos on the sides. Does the logo on the outside make any difference and/or carry significance?

SPADs

Sorry, but I have to ask: What is 'chasing reds'? Driving up to them as fast (too fast) as possible, perhaps? Driving along a section of track fast in the hope of catching a red so you can tie your shoelace/redo your nail varnish? Driving rapidly such that you are continuously seeing red signals that then change to a proceed aspect ahead of you. This will get the most capacity out of the signalling system, but there is a higher risk with this driving style that as you hurtle towards a red signal expecting it to change (just like all the other ones you've seen are) it won't and you'll then SPAD. Driving defensively is a style of driving that I was taught on my motorcycle, it's always assuming the worst might happen so having a plan to mitigate it (eg in this context it means planning to stop a slight distance from a signal just in case the brakes aren't as good as you they could be).

I don't think so, though even seeing the answer card I'm not really sure where the location is!
The above image is unmodified.

I suspect we're drifting from the topic here, but is this linked to if a railway is "underground" or not? For example parts of the MerseyRail network are underground and thus trains have end exit doors and no bins. A tunnel doesn't make a railway underground, but an underground railway will have tunnels.

IIRC the S Stock named "Tim O'Toole" has different motors to the rest of the fleet which can be identified easily as they sound different.

Now all you get is a strip of thin foam... This may be true, however at least if there is a fire on the train then you won't be burnt to death when the seat catches fire as it would previously.

Briefly: to regulate speed approaching a signal where the overlap is reduced (an overlap is a safety margin beyond a signal).

I got thirteen correct (only getting the InterCity posteer wrong), some were educated guesses uses clues in the posters that perhaps should have been redacted.
For example "See England by Rail" isn't likely to be Edinburgh, an LNER poster is unlikely to be Newport and I doubt a poster for Hartlepool would advertise "Through trains from the north".

It's even on their Twitter so must be real I'm not going to breach forum rules by giving away the times of the first two trains that are alluded to in the tweet from the Overground. In completely unrelated matters, Gospel Oak station not long before noon or not long after is a lovely place to grab a brew and watch the trains go by, you might even want to go for a ride

Two images of a Elizabeth line 345 idling at the cordoned off Platform 8 having just emerged from the core. Idling? Have they been fitted with internal combustion engines then?
