When the depot was under construction it was certainly connected to the Cambridge main line. I have a feeling - but no evidence -that it was still so connected in Autumn 69. I'd assumed - possibly wrongly - that the stock transfer trains were then worked from Hainault depot via Woodford, Leyton Station Junction and Loughton Branch Junction, and hauled by a diesel - one of those that Stratford had tripcock-fitted for the freight BR used to work to the Ongar and Newbury Pk via Woodford branches (which has ceased in ?67).There were of course regular early passenger trains over Leyton Stn Jc- Loughton Branch jc until 1970. But memory fades as to exact dates! There was no connection between Northumberland Park depot to the Cambridge main line stock transfers was done at finsbury park connection to the Piccadilly line to Acton and on the central at eailng Broadway as bigvern says in his post

Hi did you know the new Piccadilly line trains trailer cars will have no wheels to say If they have no wheels (presumably suspended from adjacent cars) can they really be described as "trailers", given that they wont be trailing along behind a powered car? e.g. a cantilevered child seat on a bicycle isn't a trailer, but one with its own wheel it; the rear portion of an articulated lorry is a "semi-trailer" as it is supported by the tractor unit at one end. </pedant> I should have said suspended between two motor cars.

54256 was in a 3-car unit D end motor west end one of the photos in cab wrong deadmans handle and the wrong EP brake handle they look like New york subway ones.
Tried several times to put on here and photo comes out blurred you need to change and get rid of photobucket to long winded. Photobucket don't support hotlinking - image changed to clickable link. Not sure how well it'll work though! Tom.

Out of the three the best one was the blue BRE one more advanced than the other two to say. More advanced in some ways but in others less so, like the Motor Alternator for auxiliary supply and I seem to recall traditional thyristors in the propulsion equipment instead of the then new fangled GTO ones. Might be wrong on that one, anyone else recall? Hi i have lot of info on the units but to difficult to put up on here. AUX was not Motor Alternator was a Static convertors and had GTO Traction according to the info i have, i still say the BRL one was the best When at Northfields Depot That`s my opinion.

I'd urge caution with this, unless and until it's been verified by someone at LTM or the Friends it is genuinely up for sale. This car has been "put up for sale" before (can't remember by whom or when) but wasn't actually put up for sale by either the museum or the Friends. Edit to add: I've now looked at the advert. Other than a change of image, this advert looks to be ide3ntical to the one which was subsequently found to be fake. The easiest way to find out if the advert is fake or not is to speak to the person who's email address is shown in the advert, a chap called Bob Bird by the looks of it. The address looks authentic enough and a Bob Bird is involved with the LTM. Once i did ask Bob Bird is it for sale some time ago he said yes do to space, i have got to speak to him monday about picking up the old west end cabin clock for the museum, i will see what he says on this again.
